I don't think there's any way in hell that Romney will run next time around. Even if he personally desired to run, which I doubt given how this election turned out for him, the Republican Party will certainly be pushing for a much more charismatic and marketable candidate.flip wrote:No, I don't see it that way, but I have dealt with a great deal of religious types throughout my life. They are some of the most easily led and indoctrinated while at the very same time unyielding and opinionated. Not very diplomatic people, more the my way or the highway types. As far as Obama, I don't believe him to be the great transgressor a lot of people make him out to be. Take the Obama movie for instance. I watched it well after most people I know did, but we definitely came away with 2 different impressions. I heard a lot of stuff from people who actually watched the movie, that I did not see at all. Romney will probably win this next go around anyways, as you can almost be sure he will run this next election. I'd still rather a lame duck than a golden goose anyday

I see that differently too. The margin was fairly close and a lot of people feel he is more familiar to them now than the first go around. Let Obama become lamer and lamer and more ineffective as time goes by and the guy is almost a shoe-in. I guess it will all depend on how many public appearances we see Romney participating in the next year or two.

Centrists? really?
THAT'S comedy gold right there.
The mere mention of Obama sends the the most active people into apeshit mode, talking about how bad he is. all. the. time.
This is the only board that I visit that does this. Anywhere else and it's rational, sane people holding a mature discussion. Here? whacko central.
Spidey, you're about one of the calmest people here. But I wouldn't really consider you a centrist.

That’s fine, because I consider myself right wing, but I still fit the definition of centrist…
centrist…
2: a person who holds moderate views (1 is a noun)
So if someone here thinks I don’t fit the definition, prove it by naming some of my extreme political beliefs.
I’m willing to bet, I hold more compromise positions than just about everyone here.
You have to remember as I tried to explain before…the center extends outward from exact center in both directions, to a great degree, some might even say, if you don’t fall into the outer 15% on either side…you are in the middle.
The “center” isn’t some theoretical hairline exactly down the middle…it’s actually pretty wide.

Agreed. There is a lot (and I mean a lot) of extremism here. More than I see anywhere else, and I see a lot of extremism.Ferno wrote:Centrists? really?

Yeah it's somehow my fault for not accepting an idiotic answer. It's always that way with you. If someone disagrees with you, they're either an idiot or they don't understand. Nice try.You were answered but failed to comprehend.

Fine…so if I’m not a centrist…what exactly disqualifies me?

The fact that you don't agree with liberal's make you not a centrist. You just need to look at some of the members of this forum who are CLEARLY hard left and yet proclaim to be centrists

Everything looks hard left when you are falling off the right side of the universe like most of this forum.

Re: These probably would have been Obama voters...
I’d like to hear some examples of “extreme” because I think people here are confusing a dislike of Obama, with some kind of fanaticism.
Mr. center of the road himself has some “extreme” views in my opinion…such as confiscating…errr taxing the rich at an unrealistic level, not designed for fairness in my opinion, but to simply restrict the wealth someone has…that’s the kind of thing I call extreme. (but, he gets to be a centrist)
So lets here some of the “extreme” views people have here…heh, I doubt most of you even know the views of someone like Woody…the most likely suspect, I would guess.
My opinion of guys like Woody is…hard core, not extreme. But I would love to hear just how “extreme” people’s views really are. (political only…yea I know there plenty of extreme religious views here)
If you can’t think of some examples, you might want to rethink your position.

Fair enough. Political views here are argued rather vehemently, but that's religious extremism in action. The political views themselves are actually somewhat centrist, according to your own definition of the central 70%.Spidey wrote:(political only…yea I know there plenty of extreme religious views here)
Even some of my own threads are pretty extreme in their own right, I think. You have to be passionate about your beliefs, otherwise why stick with them? And if you're not going to stick with something, why bother doing it in the first place. "Waste not, want not."
Spoken like a true centrist.Spidey wrote: My opinion of guys like Woody is…hard core, not extreme

Spidey: there are two things that seem to disqualify you from a true centrist. you hold similar viewpoints as CUDA and woodchip, and you referred to the states as 'socialist states of america' when it came to CPS.

So you're disqualifying us based on your own standards. That would seem to be a self disqualification on your part

I spend the majority of my time on this board picking apart technical issues, and such…in fact, I rarely if ever disclose my actual political or religious views for that matter.
So pick any three on them and tell me what my actual position on them is…
Good Luck.

"idiotic answer" <> "idiot".
I think you've lost the comprehension card, woody.
As for the other part, you should look through your own posts, where you're dismissive of others for disagreeing with you.
