think about it
Government selectively targeting people with the IRS
Government secretly controlling, spying on and threatening the media
Government controlling and limiting the ability of its citizens to defend themself.
How's that hope and change working for you

Re: think about it
So what we have witnessed by this administration is.
A violation of the 4th amendment and a violation on the 1st amendment, both by the IRS.
A violation(intrusion) of the 1st amendment by the justice department.
And a limiting of the 2nd amendment by the administration and the democrats
Nice

Re: think about it
Well he did refer to America as the greatest country on earth and then announced he wanted to fundamentally transform America....

Re: think about it
Political repression is the persecution of an individual or group for political reasons, particularly for the purpose of restricting or preventing their ability to take part in the political life of a society.
Political repression is sometimes used synonymously with the term political discrimination (also known as politicism). It often is manifested through discriminatory policies, such as human rights violations, surveillance abuse, police brutality, imprisonment, involuntary settlement, stripping of citizen's rights,

Re: think about it
So how will the newsies spin it when Americans start fleeing the country due to political repression?

As the left like to say, "the constitution is a living breathing document" or translated, "We will change it to the new Marx...er commen sense terminology where liberty will be how we define it".

Thats fine
Do it legally. Until then it still applies. To them too
You cannot change it by executive order

Re: think about it
So out of bored curiousity, are you guys okay with stuff like the PATRIOT Act shitting all over the Bill of Rights, or should that be held up to the same indignation too?
Re: think about it
Well the Patriot Act is of less concern to me than a presidential kill list of Americans abroad.
Re: think about it
I feel the exact opposite way, as the Patriot Act actually affects me personally, whereas I don't exactly have any current plans to travel overseas and engage in combat against my own country. Not that I'm saying I'm very down with the idea of picking off US citizens in general, but still.

Re: think about it
I remember my initial reaction to the Patriot Act was a mixed bag. I liked some of what they were going to do but some of what I fault Obama for is legalized by the Patriot Act so I it was up to me I would like to have them define and refine it.
Re: think about it
Yeah, I'll agree that the entire thing wasn't a wash: the portions that dealt with cooperation and information-sharing among various intelligence agencies were absolutely vital for combating international terrorism. It's largely an utter failure in this sort of sharing that allowed bin Laden to escape capture/death numerous times in the past, and for the 9/11 hijackers to go undetected. But the information-gathering portions have some extremely bad juju, and I don't doubt that the Obama administration used some of those elements in the AP case.

Re: think about it
I wonder if all those government agencies are really sharing information? All their bureaucracies are essentially stovepipes, all information goes up, all orders go up, but certainly not sideways. They all don't trust one another either, so I find it a stretch that they're all suddenly playing nice together now when they never did in the past.
