He's a NSA analyst with four laptops presumably loaded with top secret US Government data and personal knowledge of the NSA's methods and capabilities. He is trying to catch a connecting flight from Hong Kong to Ecuador because he wants to go to a more democratic country than the US. He was already in Hong Kong, he should have stayed there!
He has supposedly 'missed' his flight out of Russia. A place run by Vladimir Putin...
I wonder if he really thought he was ever going to make it on that flight? If so I think he was way overpaid for his work as an NSA contractor!
Snowden...odds on his leaving Russia unmolested?

Oh, I can bet that there are a boatload of SD, NSA, CIA and DIA goons and intel weenies all over Russia trying to get their mitts on this guy. Even if he made it to Ecuador, he'd still not be safe from a little U.S. kidnapping foray.

He may leave…but I bet his luggage gets lost.

Maybe he gets lost, but they "find" his luggage, like those 3 laptops he's supposedly carrying around.

the intrigue on this one is right out of the Cold War days.

I think the best thing to come out of this was Putin's line: "It's like shearing a piglet: there's a lot of squealing, but there's little wool." I need to work this line into a conversation tomorrow.
