Calgary got flooded.
Everyone I know there is alright. A few of them were close to the floodwaters though.

It won't be ready. The entire city needs help. And no one will go with what just happened.

Re: Calgary got flooded.
Sorry to hear about all that nuts weather you guys have been having up that way! Has the tornado damage been at a minimum?
Re: Calgary got flooded.
I haven't seen a lick of help from south of the border yet.
Re: Calgary got flooded.
Just out of curiosity did any help from north of the boarder come for the folks in Oklahoma when the mile wide tornado ripped through it?

Re: Calgary got flooded.
Most of the international assistance I heard about was financial, but I've also heard there were folks from all over who went to help. Most were probably from adjoining states, but I personally know a couple people who travelled across multiple states to get there, so it seems fairly plausible at least a few would have come from Canada or Mexico.woodchip wrote:Just out of curiosity did any help from north of the boarder come for the folks in Oklahoma when the mile wide tornado ripped through it?

Just out of curiosity, can you not start with trying to shift blame? We just went through something completely unexpected and this sort of stuff is not appreciated.woodchip wrote:Just out of curiosity did any help from north of the boarder come for the folks in Oklahoma when the mile wide tornado ripped through it?

Re: Calgary got flooded.
Then why did you go down that path?
You chose to criticise the U.S. when you had a tragedy and we didn't come to your aid.
Wood is justified in his response.
Asking for help is one thing. But demanding or getting Butt hurt when it's not offered, when you chose not to offer it yourself when your neighbor to the south of the border had a similar experience Is arrogant. The U.S. doesn't OWE to help. should we? Yep, because that's what friends and neighbors do. Maybe you can remember that next time we have need.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of help could be offered from south of the border that would still allow Canada to maintain its dignity as a first world nation.

Yeah. That would be like the U.S having to take an offer of aid from Mexico.

No demanding involved. Just pointing out a fact.CUDA wrote:Then why did you go down that path?

If people can't refrain from going 'but what about poor america?', then this thread is done.
Re: Calgary got flooded.
It’s George Bush’s fault!
Hey….I’m really sorry about what happened to you….but I’m kinda on tragedy overload right now.

Re: Calgary got flooded.
All across America, towns flood and get hammered by storms. Most of the towns, especially the smaller ones, the locals and the state agencies they are in work together to clean up the mess. Can't remember a one of them asking where is help from north of the boarder. Perhaps less whining and more elbow grease might get the job done faster.
