Teachers have used the fable as a cautionary tale about telling the truth but a recent educational experiment suggested that reading "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" increased children’s likelihood of lying. On the other hand, reading a book on George Washington and the cherry tree decreased this likelihood dramatically.[5] The suggestibility and favourable outcome of the behaviour described, therefore, seems the key to moral instruction of the young.

Re: Goodbye YouTube
Of course adolescents experiment. The hormones are raging. But homosexual sex is one of those things that most true hetero males would have an innate disgust reaction against. I doubt they'd even try it. If any boy experiments with that, he is probably either bi or gay in the first place. Some dirty old man going after boys isn't going to create a boy gay or something. Sheesh! It's not a choice.Spidey wrote:Sometimes you really surprise me tc.

One can get syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes, Chlamydia, HIV and HPV from saliva. Not as likely, but it happens. Even heterosexual oral sex is dangerous. Just ask Michael Douglas.

True. But humans do have a sex drive and a condom is the closest thing to 100% safety other than abstinence. But we do have to reproduce after all, so the odds are that someone out there will get an STD just trying to make a kid.Duper wrote:There. The only "safe" sex is NO sex.. none. condoms 100%. They are still prone to user error and "mechanical" failure.

Re: Goodbye YouTube
Here's the thing, though: just because a pre-teen or teen experiments with someone of the same sex, which probably happens more than any of us would guess, doesn't mean they're homosexual/bisexual. We know that human sexuality is far more of a continuous spectrum than a simple toggle-switch, and a couple of friends fooling around as kids doesn't have much bearing on their actual orientation.

Going to have to hold you to your own standard, TG. You're surmising, but stating it as reliable fact. I smell inexperienced conjecture.

You'll excuse me if I temporarily balked at the idea of Googling "preteen same-sex experimentation." I'll try to dig up some of the relevant data via other means.

Masturbation will make you go blind.

Masturbation makes your testicles shrink.
Masturbation will make the penis longer....or shorter, depending on who you talk to.
If you do it too much, you'll become sterile because you'll run out of semen.

Regarding increasing LGBT support among corporations.
Corporations are employers of people, and some people are gay. We'd want to maintain a safe, supportive and friendly work environment for our employees.
There's also the PR angle, we want to portray a welcoming image to our customers.
But mainly, I wouldn't employ someone with outspoken homophobic views, as if our employees have a hostile work environment - productivity suffers and staff turnover increases.

btw, what is the OP of this thread about?
From what i can gather: Youtube acknowledged that the day was an internationally recognized LGBT-related day (Stonewall riots anniversary?) , but they didn't accompany this acknowledgement with a disclaimer that they share OP's vile hatred, and thus this angered OP.

Only if you'd rather trifle over words than address the individual. How long have all of us been on this board to know our various routines. Venting from personal disgust is very different than seething vitriol. You should know Searge well enough to know that he is not a hateful person. As should Roid. but I guess that's just roid.
Searge is opinionated, sure but then most of us here are.
If he finds something distasteful, why can't he voice it. Even if it's not currently "popular". What ever happened to "tolerance"?
We are a pretty closed community with only a handful of posters. We can allow each other some latitude.

They're all mere stops on the same-old rail loop (ignorance, fear, disgust, anger, etc), the individual stops are barely worth acknowledging as separate. The loop though, that's worth talking about.

If that's the case you are using the Internet wrong. The Internet is the greatest invention there is for people with critical thinking skills and a burning desire to learn. Education should be a lifelong endeavor. Even after getting my degrees I continue to take online classes and use the Internet for personal research on things like geography, geology, anthropology, biology, physics, math, and countless other subjects.Spidey wrote:Everyday it seems I get to thank my lucky stars I got my education before the internet....
Good science fiction needs to be rooted in some solid facts otherwise it becomes boring and nonsensical. It is actually a very hard genre to write for. What...that disgust always leads to hate…that’s just a load of BS. I find fat people somewhat disgusting, and frankly…some of them very disgusting, but I don’t hate any of them, nor do I have any reason to hate any of them, or ever will.
It’s just a cute convenient way of putting people onto boxes…like he always does.
It’s just a cute convenient way of putting people onto boxes…like he always does.
Re: Goodbye YouTube
I agree that disgust does not always lead to hate. However, disgust tends to do exactly what you say about putting people into boxes, especially where homosexuality is concerned. Homosexuals become "those disgusting people" and they get put into a special box that hides their human value and the fact they love their partners just like anyone else loves their significant other. The disgust might not lead to hate, but is often accompanied by pity and a kind of superiority complex. That complex in group form is what leads to oppression -- real oppression as seen in ultra-religious Africa where Christians and Muslims alike torture and kill homosexuals on a regular basis -- all with the gleaming approval of the government. Unfortunately, most people don't take the time to challenge things that are distasteful by looking inward for the cause of that disgust. If they did we would have a more compassionate society.

Re: Goodbye YouTube
Unsuspecting target my ass. You're talking about protestor on protestor violence. Guess what? It happens everywhere. You're too eager to slant this BS in the other direction. Without actually being there and knowing more about it, I think their new law prohibiting homosexual propaganda aimed at children is great. People have no business targeting ANY kind of sexual propaganda to children, and especially not deviant propaganda.
Also Spidey was talking about roid putting people in boxes, not disgust putting people in boxes.
So restricting public expressions of deviant sexual behavior is bad, but faggots killing fascists gets you excited, eh, Roid? Sounds pretty liberal A-typical.

That was a picture of acknowledgement, not a picture of the violent war front itself.
i just note now that 4/5 of the ones holding the banner at the front are women, yikes they could be anyone. Welcome to your new reactionary violent modern world Thorne, you certainly earned it, enjoy the self-defensive fruits of your efforts.
But i guess those who incite the violence are rarely those who act-out on it. ie: I doubt you yourself have attacked anyone, that kindof work is reserved for followers a few points south on the IQ scale for plausibly-deniable reasons, but it all works out right? i never told them to attack anyone, i merely fostered a culture that saw that as it's only outlet. Oh wait, ★■◆●, now the faggots are armed?! Ummmmmmm, i don't feel so great about this anymore lets go back to church and forget about it.
*Achem*
But yes Thorne, people meeting their violent end via an unexpected and sudden front of violent self-defense, DOES excite my irony gland.
Thorne, please tell us all what do you think about the roaming violently homophobic gangs who go around targeting suspected gender/sexual "deviants" (to use your* lingo) ?
*hahaha, as if.

Can you apply your new understanding to radical Islam or is it still wrong to point out when they insite violence?
Are only gays in a position to defend themselves or will you now concede that people you might not agree with on other issues do have the same legitimate concerns and rights for defense?
Re: Goodbye YouTube
I have a respect for ironic ends to bad news. I grew up on modern media what do you expect lol. Some ★■◆● meeting his own end via a target found to be not quite as harmless as the perpetrator expected, is an unnervingly elegant story and i find it hard to resist it's karmic charms.
Yeah, a militant having his own faulty rocket blow up in his face is kindof fitting, but i try not to laugh while i'm surrounded by company who is laughing solely because he's a foreigner and GOTTA PROTECT OUR BORDERS FROM WEIRD ACCENTS GETTING THROUGH HURRRRGGGGGHHH, this comedy no longer seems quite as funny.
Yeah, Islam is stupid, i occasionally begrudgingly admit this. Depending on context it's hardly a major problem, and it's stupid for most of the same reasons that Christianity is. My main beef with anti-Islamic criticism has been the hypocrisy of the Christians throwing the first stones. If someone can't recognize their own faults, they have NO MORAL/ETHICAL RIGHT to dare persecute anyone else. Because - un-fettered by empathy and/or honest introspection about the existence of one's own faults as likely shared by all of humanity - such feelings of self-righteousness soon degrade into an open invitation to persecute everyone who isn't like you.
The people here who talk ★■◆● about Islam are themselves little different to the apparent ideological monsters they rail against, my religion vs that religion - and other musical hits from history.
BTW i doubt you have a local systemic problem with militant Islamist gangs roaming your streets actively attacking those who offend their fucked up sensibilities.
However anti-LGBT and even anti-women sentiment (& more importantly: violence) is indeed quite the ever-present global phenomenon, which i can't see being solved in my lifetime.
Well... technology not permitting. (wow don't ask i read a lot of Iain Banks sci-fi this past few years ok)

On the note of anti-gay protesting, Russia can learn something from the Frenchies. Here's how the French homophobes do it in France. They're so homoerotic gay, they don't realize it. Nicer to ogle at than those nasty banners and signs I guess.

sigma, I've got news for you. You probably talk to them all the time and don't even realize it. You may even know a few and not realize it either. Not all gays set off people's gaydar. Re: Goodbye YouTube
I will remind you that I live in the megalopolis. I quite often see gays on streets, and even sometimes I should communicate with them within working contacts. Gays works much in female model agencies, clubs, restaurants, show business, television, creative professions. In the majority it is interesting, nonaggressive, clever people if not to pay attention to their singularity. I hate only their views of me as the girl looks at the boy when she wants him. Also believe me, it can't be hidden. Here, in the capital, very tolerant attitude of society towards gays. I will tell more, many heterosexualists purposely give out themselves for blue to have opportunity to get highly paid work because often there are no chances to get a job to the heterosexualist, for example the makeup artist, etc. In the province the relation to blue sharply differs. Sometimes there at them mock, scoff, beat, cruelly humiliate, bringing to suicide. But it is rather an exception of the rule. Such fascists catch and punish in compliance with the administrative and criminal code. Radicalism as well as excessive tolerance in relation to LGBT is the ugly phenomena, on mine. And in my opinion, the West shows excessive tolerance to LGBT.
