Welcome to the Gulag
In true socialist/communist governance, in one fell swoop Obama has changed America into the old communist USSR. Seems Obama doesn't like leakers now (though you remember when Bush was in office leakers were idolized by the Dems) and of course to make us "safer" has now ordered federal employees to snitch on their co workers:
"WASHINGTON — In an initiative aimed at rooting out future leakers and other security violators, President Barack Obama has ordered federal employees to report suspicious actions of their colleagues based on behavioral profiling techniques that are not scientifically proven to work, according to experts and government documents. "
And to make matters worse, if you don't report these suspicious co-workers, you can go to jail:
"The techniques are a key pillar of the Insider Threat Program, an unprecedented government-wide crackdown under which millions of federal bureaucrats and contractors must watch out for “high-risk persons or behaviors” among co-workers. Those who fail to report them could face penalties, including criminal charges."
Well the good thing is we ought to start seeing a reduction in the bloated federal employment rolls.

Re: Welcome to the Gulag
This is priceless, let's start snitching on the suspicious actions of those who snitch on suspicious actions. Gotta love the irony.

Not likely, they will probably create another department full of federal employees to administer the snitch process...woodchip wrote:...

That's not right. You can't charge bystanders.Woodchip wrote:"Those who fail to report them could face penalties, including criminal charges."
Re: Welcome to the Gulag
Ah, but when you are a socialist regime, you can do anything you want. If the Dems win control of the house in 2014 and keep the senate, you'll be obligated to snitch on your neighbor if he says anything derogatory about Glorious Leader. Guess I'm screwed.Sergeant Thorne wrote:That's not right. You can't charge bystanders.Woodchip wrote:"Those who fail to report them could face penalties, including criminal charges."

Re: Welcome to the Gulag
I find this interesting, given the position the administration has taken about the failures of ethnic/racial profiling techniques used by police.article wrote:"...behavioral profiling techniques that are not scientifically proven to work, according to experts and government documents."
Do profiling systems work, or not? Seems like the answer to that depends on one's political bent, rather than actual study.
Re: Welcome to the Gulag
Funny how when it comes to Muslim terrorist, profiling is not allowed.
Re: Welcome to the Gulag
I want to tell all Americans, nobody cancelled the people power. If you don't accept behavior of the power, always there are methods of influence on the power activity of the simple people. In Russia there is a lot of lawlessness but in order that to change something, it is necessary for the people of the country and it is necessary not only to express the disagreement with power policy on the Internet, but also to go outside with demonstration of the protest. Even risking the wellbeing, health and even life, but to gather people and to come to streets to prove the case, differently you will achieve nothing.

Woodchip still doesn't know what the ★■◆● "socialism" or "communism" mean, everyone drink!

I’m pretty sure he’s using it in the pejorative.
You don’t seem to understand speaking styles very much, and by now I would think you would understand Woody’s.
But, of course one must never miss a chance to insult him.

At least spidey has a clue. TG you can take all your real life frustrations and hang them on my shoulders. See what a magnanimous individual I am.
Re: Welcome to the Gulag
Using a word incorrectly in the perjorative sense doesn't make it any less incorrect. God forbid we hold people to the basic standard of, y'know, using terminology for what it's meant for.Spidey wrote:I’m pretty sure he’s using it in the pejorative.

No, they don't work. But they do tend foster more fear, more paranoia, more butt covering and more secrecy. That's definitely not a way to run a democratically elected government. It's more like how a mob family runs it affairs. Damn this is a sad state of affairs.Foil wrote:I find this interesting, given the position the administration has taken about the failures of ethnic/racial profiling techniques used by police.article wrote:"...behavioral profiling techniques that are not scientifically proven to work, according to experts and government documents."

Re: Welcome to the Gulag
Profiling has its usage, but only to narrow down suspects, not as any kind of determining factor of guilt.
It is something that has to be used with a great deal of discretion, and “racial profiling” should always be avoided.
Basically if you look like a criminal…skin color should have nothing to do with it.

Re: Welcome to the Gulag
That's the problem. How do you "profile" your fellow employees, especially when race isn't even considered? Kinda makes for a adversarial workplace don't you think? Not a place I'd like to work at. The rumor mill alone would be toxic and deadly.

Re: Welcome to the Gulag
People profile each other at a subconscious level all of the time. How do you think you choose a mate.

Re: Welcome to the Gulag
Yeah, but I profiled my mate because I was looking for good match for myself personally, not to get someone I work with fired, or arrested for treason. That's called backstabbing to get ahead.

Re: Welcome to the Gulag
Why do you think race is a required component for profiling? The suggested criteria seems to be behavior and lifestyle...tunnelcat wrote:That's the problem.
