Remember THIS headache??

Post by Duper »

going through some VERY old files on my back drive and found this set of instructions I had written for folks trying to config their Precision Pro stick with the 3DFX D1/D2 mod. I was spending so much time on Kali at one point helping folks tech this issue out, I just wrote a process sheet. ...now I do this for a living...

Ok.. theres 3 programs you will use.. SpanFix and joyfix 4.0 and the profiler program..

NEVER NEVER use joyfix98,,,its evil...

First, go into d2 and set the joystick as Thrustmaster and ( I think) set omega cannon as your first weapon.

If you havent already, install the profiler program and for to the MS website and download the latest update.. 3.02 or higher.

Next, the 2 programs spanfix and joyfix. you can unzip those anywhere. You will be asked for the location of the files that need to be modified.. don't worry, these progys are safe.. and they make back-ups.

Run Spanfix First!... its VERY easy to use. and it takes a good while to complete its work.. so dont freak! :} (about 5 minutes per .exe )

Then run joyfix.. read carefully and and go thru every step this first time.. not hard.. just a number of things to do.

Take sometime to set up the key functions in the profiler (you will understand once you run it ;} ) it makes a big difference!! also.. if your running D2 in dos (before windows boots up) the stik probably won't work.

one more thing.... when you start using this stik... STAY WITH IT!!!!! it is difficult to learn.! it takes several hours to master.. like 10 or more.
yeah.. not missing this at all.....
