On my netbook, I've replaced my keyboard, my HD, my video cable (run through the case to the lid internally), and the power adapter (which really doesn't count).

Modular phones would be interesting, but I don't expect a model like this to be a viable way to achieve it. Using a handful of pins for communicating data, basically in serial, is going to be cripplingly slow - and you need to supply power too. Then everything has to compete for the same bus... in serial...

Smiled a bit when he talked about removing the storage for someone who works entirely on the cloud. Computers don't work like that, bro

Thats why this is a concept, not a prototype. You'd have to work out the kinks in the design, but the idea is good.

I don't think anything like this has a chance in hell of happening. Phone manufacturers don't want their customers to be able to incrementally upgrade only one part of their phone when they need it, that means they wouldn't be buying a whole new $700 phone when they want just slightly more than what their current phone gives them now. Planned obsolescence is the name of the game in the cell phone world. Keep the phone specs high enough that they seem awesome now, but make sure the specs are low enough that they can be made to look laughable in a year or two when the next galaxy s-whatever comes out, or the iphone 200g or whatever.
