uninstall McAfee security scan plus

A friend updated Adobe and evidently didn't uncheck something and it installed "McAfee security scan plus".

We tried to uninstall it from the control panel and from the uninstall in the McAfee plus programs folder but would not uninstall.

I thought I'd try safe mode next. Any other ideas?

He's running Vista.

Reboot once. It should uninstall normally.

Been trying to install it off and on for a week with procedures I posted above, just normal un-install.

Then reinstall it, or repair install it before attempting an uninstall.

Uninstalled it in Safe mode and it worked.

Maximum PC magazine had a joke section this issue and that very program was listed as the software to install if you want to slow down your too fast computer. They also commented that Adobe XI was great for constantly popping up and asking you to update in the middle of your pleasant gaming sessions.
