Tea Party Ties Obama

Post by woodchip »

Seems as many Americans have views similar to the Tea Party as do those who think Obama's views are similar. From the latest Rasmussen Poll:

"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% of Likely U.S. Voters think the president’s views are closest to their own when it comes to the major issues facing the country. But just as many (42%) say their views come closest to those of the average Tea Party member instead."

What it looks like is the Tea Party is gaining strength despite all the vilification from the left and their cronies in the news. So I suspect you are going to see a lot more republican politicians embracing the Tea Party platform and less nay-saying from the Republican head honcho's. If you are a RHINO I suggest you either become a democrat or seriously get on the conservative bandwagon. 2014 will be a interesting election year.

keep thinking that.....oh, and recent polls showed that, of people with strong feelings on the matter(in other words, tossing out the 'somewhat' answers) 4 times as many disliked the Tea Party as supported it. Strong support came in at a whopping 11%

and, in what should come as a surprise to no one, the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Woody sees happening is actually happening:

got the same views, at dinner the other night, from a couple of deep-south Republicans who've had enough of the stupidity and claim, at least, to be ready to put their money to work killing it off.

Sorry slickster but you're blowing smoke up peoples skirt once again. Rasmussen polled likely voters and that trumps whatever you're refering to. Your "Delaware Conservatives" are perhaps the RHINOS of the party. Since your link refers to The National Review Online, let me throw this back at you...also from NRO:

"Salon’s Michael Lind — who is, to put it lightly, no fan of the Tea Party’s — allowed this month that the group’s leaders “tend to be highly educated and well-off,” and its members “tend to be more affluent and educated than the general public.” The group cannot, Lind continued, “be explained in terms of abstract ideological extremism, working-class populism or ignorance and stupidity.” "

So I guess being a dupe of the liberal slime machine has got you fully in it's grip while people like Lind seem to get that the Lib spin machine is way off the mark. Again get off the kool aid and start looking at reality.

in fact, Woody, we were having that same conversation the other night, in Philly. The leaders of the movement DO have a pretty solid level of education. The problem my Republican friends saw was exactly that: Ted Cruz, Jim DeMint and others are smart men, leading around a pack of dolts, and as is common with smart men, they see things in absolutes at times. In other words, 'my way, or no way', with little room for compromise. With the followers generally incapable of independant thinking, those handful of smart guys are leading the GOP over the cliff like so many lemmings. My old buddies(one of whom was a longtime Haley Barbour backer, the other from the Bush the Elder camp) were convinced that once the old guard steps in, throws a bit of cash at a few key elections, and cries out for sanity, the ship will be righted. I expressed my skepticism that it might be too late. Then, we all had some more Lobster Carbonara and Tiramisu and moved on to the near-religious topic of baseball.

Speaking of political cash, I found it near-hilarious that both McConnell and Coburn were up in the NYC area raising campaign cash the other night. Did anyone there in their audiences know, or care, that neither voted to give post-hurricane relief aid to the region after Sandy. Peter King was, sadly, correct, that some of those folks view NYC and the Northeast/MidAtlantic region as a big ATM.

Slick, Salon was not referring to just the people in leadership but the voters within the Tea Party " its members tend to be more affluent and educated than the general public.” You read the word member here as opposed to the leadership? Stop trying to delude yourself and others. Or maybe you should keep doing so so the liberal masses think they won't have to vote this time around. It is the liberals who are saddled with the "Low Information Voters" not the Tea Party.

I read the Salon wording as referring to members of the caucus, or the leadership, in other words. NOT the average dolt who supported them at the polls. Note, I use the past tense, as that support is quickly evaporating here in the Northeast and MidAtlantic, and, I suspect, will follow suit with the exception of the Old South. Virginia will be telling, in a couple ways, next week. First, to see the turnout from the hardcore faithful, vs the level of determination from the opposition. Second, to see the overall outcome and how the GOP spins it, should what were supposed to be 3 easy victories(for Governor, Lt Governor and Atty General) not turn out that way.

I think the tea party is toast, but if the Dems keep having difficulties with Obama's signature piece if legislation, they might, unfortunately, make a comeback.

Also regarding Virginia's Gov. race:

"McAuliffe poll shock: Democrat up by only 4 points in Virginia governor’s race"

So who is the opponent? Why Kenneth T. Cuccinelli I, a strong right wing republican aligned with the Tea Party. Getting a little nervous yet Slick?

I don't know whose numbers you cite, because the polls released yesterday had McCaullife up by 9%. Rasmussen, a GOP leaning firm, had him up by 14 last week. Not getting nervous, at all, because this was supposed to be a Dem loss 8 months ago, by a decent margin.

RealClear(and, woody, I see you got excited over Quinnipiac, which was this morning's release):
overall-over 9%, even factoring in that poll

It'll be McCaullife, just you wait woody. Cuccinelli is dirty himself and stuck with that load of baggage left over from McDonnell's dirty scandal ridden time in office.

He's ahead in the polls too. The only thing the Republicans are hoping for is for a Republican AG to get elected so's they can throw a monkey wrench into the Dem machine. That race is a lot closer.

yeah, Ralph's race might not be going that way were he not running against a certifiable crazy-man. His opponent, for instance, claimed in a book he wrote(and published, with a word in the title clearly misspelled, I might add) that YOGA is a gateway to Satan. The wildcard in the Gov race is the Libertarian, who is polling around 8%, and drawing that support equally from Dems and Republicans. He was stumping on the shore when I was down fishing a few weeks back, but I missed seeing/hearing him. As Libertarians go, he seems kind of sensible. The AG race is different, too, in that it was mostly driven by pure personality/geography until very, very recently. Then the Dems started to try and link the GOP candidate with the Tea Party, after the shutdown debacle. My dad and I are heading down on business, but will be coming back election day, but the last minute ads will likely drive us nuts on the TV.

Still think it's going to be McCaullife. McDonnell is dirty and has tainted his party. By tea partiers are associated with Republicans in most average voter's minds. The dirt will stick to Cuccinelli.

Well McCaullife may very well win. All I'm saying is Cuccinelli is closing the gap. Even a close loss for Cuccinelli will give the Tea Party impetus and cause the lame liberals to worry about 2014.

Well, Cuccinelli's running mate is even further to the right than he is. Way out there to the right in crazy, bigoted, woman-repressing, vote suppressing la la land ain't going to cut it anymore.
