Oh yeah, I was just reading the title of this on a different site. I'm pro choice and pro gun, so I'm kind of screwed when it comes to political parties.

Too bad the push back on the unborn is not approved. Oh snap! I get it...they can't vote anyways.

Here's the thing, abortions are going to happen no matter what. So will dumpster babies. We have to many of these threads with this argument, don't we.

they call that status Independant. Most Americans are in that status.

I was wondering why slick brought it up if he wasn't looking for a fight.

I could say that it's a win for the dehumanization of individuals on the altar of convenience. I could also say that it sounds like the important issues weren't addressed, and just the low brow attempts to make abortions less convenient were shot down... which I don't completely disagree with.

My priority is that people continue to give women a loving alternative to abortion and we continue to chase down and prosecute people like Kermit Gosnell. Do I think that abortion is morally wrong? Yes. Do I think that legal battles are the way to address it? Not particularly.

and this is my point. Too many of these laws have turned to a completely dictatorial approach of government to women's healthcare and decision making.

you cannot legislate human morality, in most cases. Do I agree with abortion as a choice within MY family? No. But, on the other hand, I find the idea of imposing my personal decision on such personal matters onto others rather repugnant. And, when it comes to wholesale shutdown of women's health clinics, or forcing a vaginal ultrasound upon women considering abortion, etc, I find it shocking that the same folks who whine about 'big government interference' are the right on board with that sort of crap.

I'm not taking issue with your position on abortion. But wow, you walk on the bleeding edge of ironic hypocritical principal when it comes to what you would accept from government!

not really, Will. I just draw the line at FORCED MEDICAL PROCEDURES, and the government forcing shutdown of clinics that don't toe an ideological line. I believe in strong government regulation and involvement for the betterment of all the people, but do NOT believe in narrow governmental targetting based on dogmatic ideology.

Yeah, you'll notice that righties right now absolutely HATE the forced medical insurance requirement from Obamacare, but forcing state oversight upon abortion doctors is A-OK. They'd REALLY be happy if it was FEDERAL oversight, or an outright ban, enshrined in the Constitution too.

What will be telling is to see who wins Texas' gubernatorial race. If a Dem wins, it'll tell everyone that Republicans went too far.

What blows me away about a state like Texas beseeching freedom of choice, then turning right around and restricting that very same freedom of choice is the staggering hypocrisy on display.

Because Ferno, you can have freedom of choice as long as you agree with the Republican stances on said "freedoms". Worry about yourselves in this world, it's not like anyone on this board is losing a wink of sleep thinking about abortions anyways. I know woodchip and Spidey sure aren't and neither am I.

Life sucks. Let's move on.

Damn right I’m not losing any sleep, you don’t here me doing any mental masturbation trying to cleanse my conscience, by trying to convince people that the unborn aren’t human, or just some kind of spare organs.

Nope…not one minute.

In fact, I could care less if people killed their children after they are born. Just don’t insult my intelligence trying to convince me of the garbage people use to justify killing them.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ nighty night.

That may be true, but restricting, or outlawing a legal medical procedure STILL won't stop the practice. It would still go on illegally, which doesn't stop the practice if your purpose is to save unborn humans. You want to push that new problem under the carpet Spidey? Brazil is already a new hot spot to get an abortion. Since most unplanned pregnancies occur in teenagers, the best way to get stop the practice is to make sure unplanned pregnancies don't occur in the first place, and that happens through good public education and birth control.

Any type of crime still happens even though it's illegal... I'm generally not a fan of the "legalize it because people will do it anyway" argument... either it's wrong and should be prosecuted, or it's okay whether people do it or not.
