Re: Elections 2013--interesting stuff
Spending junkies could never pull off such a thing…hell I was called stupid when I proposed “no spending cuts” and then using the same kind of process that Krom proposed.
It’s never going to work, Congress always has the next big spending program lined up.

it's always focused on immediate gratification......back to an informed electorate, etc, and sort of a viscious cycle, IMO.Spidey wrote:Spending junkies could never pull off such a thing…hell I was called stupid when I proposed “no spending cuts” and then using the same kind of process that Krom proposed.

But why do we continue to let our politicians fuel those "uninformed electorate" with false information?
why hecuase we have a complicent press that helps fuel that miss information.

Re: Elections 2013--interesting stuff
well, opinions may vary widely, but I see two reasons:CUDA wrote:But why do we continue to let our politicians fuel those "uninformed electorate" with false information?
1. It makes re-election easier, and that is the politician's focus
2. The public allows it because the public, by and large, doesn't care enough NOT to.
[/quote]why hecuase we have a complicent press that helps fuel that miss information.
not really, CUDA, if you think about it. In this day and age, a citizen who cares enough can sort through more information than at any time in history. Sure, some of it is completely bogus, much of the rest is 'sound bite' type information. Still, the truth is out there, and anyone who wishes to get a well-rounded view of all sides of virtually any story can find it. Too few of the citizenry are willing, however, to seek anything past re-affirmation of what they believe already. Hence, Fox News and MSNBC, and to compete for the almighty dollar, the other 'major' outets follow suit. Hence, CBS is willing to sacrifice a long-standing reputation for news to air a known false story about Benghazi, that was demonstrably false at the time of airing. But, it got buzz, and ratings, so all is good. The press aren'tt, in short, the complacent ones(although some of them live off the benefit of complacency), the public are, for not digging deeper. There is a LOT of honest, solid, in-depth reporting out there, don't sell all 'the press' short.

I agree, but the big problem I see is too many are sitting there with their hands out, and we have too many politicians willing to fill those hands to remain in power (both sides)callmeslick wrote:well, opinions may vary widely, but I see two reasons:CUDA wrote:But why do we continue to let our politicians fuel those "uninformed electorate" with false information?

I agree to a point, but the true investigative journalism is becoming a thing of the past. And if somrone does try to dig for the truth the other side immediately is there with disinformation and demonization. It's no wonder we have an uninformed electorate. You get numb from all the BS thats printed, and it takes work to find the truthnot really, CUDA, if you think about it. oddly, I'd agree to some extent, but please refer to my 'million dollar' thread and understand that you are, I think, looking at the wrong people as having their hands out for extra freebies.CUDA wrote: but the big problem I see is too many are sitting there with their hands out, and we have too many politicians willing to fill those hands to remain in power (both sides)
yup. While we have more info than our predecessors, we have to sort through more garbage to get to it.....it takes work to find the truth

Re: Elections 2013--interesting stuff
I dont think I am. I mentioned there are too many with their hand out. Your assumption was I meant the poor. There are many rich that also have their hand out. Dont vilify all the rich because the few. Again there are some poor that are truly needy. But there is a culture in this country the WE have created which promotes abuse of the system by both sides. And we continue as a nation to endorse that system instead of fixing it. But again the politicians only want to remain in power and continue to buy us off with the very money they take from us.callmeslick wrote:oddly, I'd agree to some extent, but please refer to my 'million dollar' thread and understand that you are, I think, looking at the wrong people as having their hands out for extra freebies.CUDA wrote: but the big problem I see is too many are sitting there with their hands out, and we have too many politicians willing to fill those hands to remain in power (both sides)

Well we can now officially say Obamacare is a racist plan to deny black people insurance coverage:
"Students at historically black college complain Obamacare has left them uninsured "
"Bowie State administrators say they canceled students' health insurance plans due to new Affordable Care Act regulations."
"Many students told Campus Reform that the now cancelled plans, which provided coverage for just $50 per semester, were the only insurance they could afford."
http://campusreform.org/?ID=5239
So all of you here who support the AHC can now consider yourselves to be racists of the worst sort

keep trying Woody....it's nearly hilarious at this point. Further, since there is an active thread on the ACA, and this thread really wasn't dealing with same, was there a point to the threadcrap on your part?
