Armchair Politics

Post by Burlyman »

What do you people expect to accomplish bickering day in and day out about some stupid political nonsense? Should Congress read the DescentBB?

it's called an informed and engaged electorate......see my thread elsewhere. Sure, it's mainly an exercise in jawboninng, but there may be good from that.

To me it's a thought exercise. It's also educational. You learn about debate--what people's various goals may be in debating, and what tactics people use and why. It's a little wearying sometimes when it seems like you're doing your best to clarify water in a bucket which someone has placed beneath the media or party ★■◆● spigot because it was the easiest access or perhaps they believed it had special properties, but you take a break when you feel you need to and engage when you want to. Anyone who sees this as an attempt to change the world around us has missed the point. It is entirely for our individual benefit, and what we get out of it depends on what we put in.

Isn't bickering the same as socializing? :P

Bickering is how stupid people socialize. And they watch popular sitcoms to learn new techniques... :P

uninformed and mentally disengaged. I think I'm going to go watch FOX news and then flip flop to CNN and think I'm getting good information.

and, then, if you do nothing BUT armchair politics, you still aren't accomplishing much. This might be an interesting exercise, but the bottom line is that politics isn't a spectator sport. Sad that so few get that.......
