Lifer's do the same thing, so it adds up on both sides. A lot of that should be reviewed for the waste that it is.

Kur, I think the big players in the drug trade have more on their plate than just marijuana.

right, that was my point. they are doing many more things that are many times worse than marijuana, and if all we are able to get them for is a pot bust, why take that away?

yeah, keep it illegal. if you can't find it now, you don't really want it. if we can take down a murdering coke dealer because he was smokin some reefer, that's a good thing right? not saying we pwn major crime figures becuase of a littler mary jane all the time, but why take away the opportunity?

and at the same time you see your best friend and neighbor who works his 9-5 data entry job for his wife and kids go to jail too, because he decided to smoke a little reefer for a weekend thing to do.

what you're proposing is a double-edged sword.

i don't know about in canada, but here in the states you do not go to jail for smoking a little reefer on the weekends. you go to jail for having so much that you couldn't possibly smoke it, you'd have to be selling it.

My scores--

Death penalty: Left Wing Wacko. First: Let's be fair, it costs more to kill someone then keep them alive. So you are paying extra for this vengeance. Second, everyone admits that the system isn't perfect, so why bet someones life on it? So we are willing to pay more, so that we can risk killing an innocent man. spin++

Race: To perhaps surprise some of you, I am against affirmative action in the work place. But I support it in education admissions. I just finished reading some Ayn Rand essays (why do I get the feeling she is your favorite author Drak? ;)), and she makes the same mistake as everyone, in my opinion. There has never been an equal starting ground, so saying one is successful because they are better does not tell the whole story (refering to Rand there, not you, its other things that strike me very similar). As we all agree, the statistics are not equal, give them equal chances when it comes to education then let things go. Look at the dream program, when a class of black children are told in fourth grade that if they graduate high school their college will be paid for, the amount who graduated high school rose from 40% to 80%! Things like that just can't be ignored... If nothing is done, if things are just let be, then that 40% stays, the cycle continues indefinitely. (I would rather solve this problem by allowing college to be free for everyone, but I guess I feel that is asking for too much....)

Homosexuality: Heh, this is one where I really have to comment on your classification a bit.
The left feels that homosexuality is noble,
I certainly don't consider it noble, my position is that I am indifferent to it. I am not homosexual, so I shouldn't have a voice in what they can or can't do. It's just the way I read it I guess, it seemed like you were saying that those on the left feel that they need to take it up the ass to become better people. It's certainly not one of my life goals ;) heh..

Religion & government: Left wing nut in the since that they should be completely separate. 'God' on money is irrelevant to me. But for me, I wouldn't mind it staying, but that is more for historical reasons then modern ones. I strongly believe that those of faith have a right to prey in public places. Whether they are children in schools or what not.

Abortion: Far right. This should really be a left position. :P Being left for me is about always taking the chance that their is value in any life (death penalty, the poorest man, the gays choice). It's about taking the chance that a man may be homeless because of bad luck, the man on death row may actually be innocent, the gay man may actually be born that way, the other religion may be just as valid. I'm not sure how we got stuck with that position on this issue...it has always struck me as illogical.

Gun control: Centerish. Any gun that has a reasonable use of protecting you should be allowed. Shotguns, hand guns, riffles. I draw the line at automatic weapons, guns that you really can't carry and have a near 0 probability of being used in self-defense.

Taxes (amount): Not sure...still havenâ??t finished thinking about my position on this one. I guess happy with how it is. (By the way, you forgot right wing nut: someone who wants everyone to pay the same amount. I know several!)

Taxes (who): Same as above.

Drugs: Left wing. We spend too much $ on "the war on drugs" that could be much better placed elsewhere. (like free college!) :P

Just a brief reminder from your friendly neighborhood moderator:

This thread is about "am I left or right", with a focus on broad sets of issues and determining your political stance. This thread is not "OMG how can you possibly be on that side on that issue? Lets debate on that issue! You have to be dumb to hold that side on that issue! I'm going to criticize your stance on that issue!" Treat it like a poll, not like an argument.

If you see a particular issue someone brings up that you'd like to debate (ex: someone's views on drugs, taxes, abortion, death penalty, etc) please start a new thread to discuss the specifics, so this one can retain its more general focus. Thanks.

maybe i'm giving poeple too much credit, but i think every race would show the same increase if they were told that. unfortunately not every race has that privelage.

well... the truth is i'm a centrist that will never vote for either of the 2 majors.... out of conscience. it's not "i won't pick a side" it's their track record. it's a joke.

so when it comes to politics i look at my own personal life and experiences.

i came up on welfare, government cheese, bugs in my government rice. you'd think i'd be an arch liberal? NO.

that life experience of 11 years made me strong, without desire for others to bail me out. i've always had a job since i was 14 to pay for clothes and food, ya know. life deals cards and you play your hand... what you got poker face?

in regards to environmental issues: i am extreme left. i think we should bankrupt the kunts that piss on our world for their monetary gain... and disguise their injustice behind EPA rules... and WTO guidelines. what idiots. i say we put them under... but i ain't holding my breath.

in regards to taxes: i am extreme right. i think you should only pay taxes for those things that you use. i came up on fedcheese for 11 years... i should pay for that. i went to public schools, i should pay for that for a determined amount of time. i don't have children. why should parents get a tax break? it's a clown show.... i didn't have that orgasm. why should you benefit for your personal decisions?

the tax system is complete injustice in america. i mean why should some politician get "public matching funds" from my working hours? why am i paying for these 8th grade reading level television ads from rich men that don't need my money, and i will not vote for?

in regards to sex: i'm a buddhist. you took the action now deal with the effect. got her pregnant? deal with it, pay for it, you pay for it. not everyone around you. in case you wipes misinterpreted a wonderful african saying "it takes entire village to raise a child." they weren’t referring to taking care of your half-drunk-lust-child in a babysitting sense... they meant the actions, the example, and behavior of the village teaches the child to live correctly... how did that become "it takes an entire village to babysit my child"?

so where does that leave me? and i didn't do my homework so the gods of the dbb intelligentsia can blow me.

thank you for your time,

so where does that leave me?
About the same place as the rest of us. Leaning to one side sometimes, the other side other times, and not caring other times.
