....I am off to order the two books discussed in this article. I've often held on forum pages and the like that the definitions of 'liberal' and 'conservative' have both become badly warped in modern times. These two books go back to the foundations of those definitions and should be a good read, or at the very least, help kill time until fishing season begins:

Re: Reading material for the new year....
did that, exactly twice, in my life. I went to College in New Hampshire, so it was something available to do.....Somehow, I never found much attraction in sitting in a rickety shed in 2 degree weather getting drunk while waiting for sluggish fish to bite. Leave out the fish, move indoors to a bar, and the rest of the experience was fine. I'm glad I went, but never again.woodchip wrote:You could always go ice fishing .

Well I'd have to agree with you there. I'd much rather be down in the Everglades or 10,000 island area of Florida fishing for Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Bonefish or Weakfish (Seatrout). Froze my ass a few times sitting on a bucket with not much biting. No fun there.

South Florida is a fish paradise, but, I'm lucky to have the PA mountains within 3 hours(great trout streams), and my place in VA(bay 3 miles away, ocean 9 miles) about 3 hours south, that is home to flounder, bluefish, redfish(red drum to us), black drum, sea trout, sharks, and a few more. I need not travel far for good fishing. Delaware itself has some good spots, for that matter.woodchip wrote:Well I'd have to agree with you there. Yeah in winter Michigan sucks for fishing but come spring, then we have an awful lot of lakes around. Bass and Pike in the inland lakes, Salmon and Lake Trout in the Great Lakes. Trout in the Au Sable river. And speaking of spring I see a small flock of Blue Birds outside the window feeding on wild rose hips. Can spring be far off?
