Well.. they have daily updates.
I ran across this is on Gamasutra from last year's GDC. Chris Roberts discusses some strategies they have employed to perpetuate interest and grow the game beyond what they originally planned. In short, they listen to and involve their community.

Gawd this game looks good. I liked the Wing Commander Series and this one looks fantastic. I wish I had the bandwidth to play it though.

Wow! I sure did. Thanks TC. I was posting between 3 different things going on at work.
I was looking into this a bit more yesterday. This looks like it's going to be a bit of a money sink. You can buy new ships. One at $15,000. ...yes.. that's real money. There is insurance and one other thing that you will need to buy regularly. For $50.00 (or so) you can get in on the beta and do your walk around in the hangar. A small combat sim module will be implemented soon. (as mentioned in the vid)
As my life goes on, there has been less and less time for games so I doubt I'll pick this up.
The vid is kinda long but worth the watch if you're into this kinda stuff.
Thanks Again TC!

You and me both. Too little time, too many projects, so many games. But I hate the trend in games now. First you pay up front, then they nickle and dime you with little necessary upgrades and add-ons until you're broke, or lose because of it. Sounds just like the airline, cable and phone companies, doesn't it?
