I'm very much against abortion in general myself, but there are honestly very few abortions performed during the third trimester, so I would assume that few to none of the women in the study experienced that.

TG, few third term abortions? Really?:

"The ABC article estimates that less than 1% of all abortions take place in the third trimester. Even at a rate of 1%, third-trimester abortions would add up to over 9,000 a year. However, statistics on the number of late-term abortions are notoriously unreliable. Several former clinic workers, such as Carol Everett, have said that late-term abortions were performed in their facilities and went unreported. The 2008 case of Kermit Gosnell, who killed hundreds of third-trimester babies, many of whom were born alive and then killed with surgical scissors, is more evidence that there may be more late abortions done than is commonly believed."

Dunno but 9000 or more a year seems to be more than a few.

It's an unfortunately high number on its own, mainly because of the sheer number of abortions performed in this country every year, but percentage-wise it's not very high.

Third trimester abortions shouldn't be performed woodchip. On that point I agree. But in the first trimester, the decision should be up to the woman and her partner. No outlawing birth control OR abortion because it destroys a zygote either. If all these right wingers think life is so sacrosanct, they should be be against sending our young men and women into war to die. They'd be against the death penalty as well. Principle is principle.

so let me get this straight. Even though everyone else could understand what I said, but you could not (for some reason), it's somehow my fault. And because the "left" seems to think that supplying birth control is a good idea, somehow it means the "left" is pushing their beliefs onto others?

BTW, that word you used? it's spelt "enunciate". just so ya know.

yes. pushing your beliefs onto others, especially if they don't want it, is wrong. Would you like someone pushing their beliefs onto you? I doubt that very much and I suspect you'd react in a similar way. In fact, I can just see it. Someone comes up to you, while you're at home, and starts talking to you about how you should say.. convert to judiasm. you tell them no, they persist. you tell them no again in a stronger voice. and they continue to push. Now you tell them they can either get off your property or you're calling the police. Does that sound like something you would do?

Ya I figured as much, apparently you got lost on the first off ramp. That is NOT the conversation I was having with you.

That's like listening to a car salesman when he says the monthly payment is not that high....spread out over 80 months.

No, a closer example is when the car salesman says the interest rate on the loan is 10% when it is really 10.01%. It's not going to affect the sale.

That made me laugh out loud.

Actually you missed the highlighted irony in my reply, because what you're doing is actually pushing the belief that "pushing your beliefs" is wrong.

Now I see that I misunderstood, but that is why I asked. Apparently you're speaking specifically to the act of illegalizing abortion as pushing beliefs on another person? I'll just jump right to the worst-case comparison and point out that we're doing the same thing with murderers, rapists, kidnappers, and anyone else we lock up or execute for what we "believe" does harm to people and society. You should note that the word "belief" does not belong here. In an abortion an unborn life is snuffed out. I don't care what you believe about that, I consider it to be intolerable on the level of murder, so I'm not concerned with what anyone may convince themselves of on the subject. Life is life.

Now on to your example of being in someone's house against their permission to convert them to Judaism... There are a lot of things wrong with that, but since I've never been in anyone's home refusing their requests to leave them alone I won't worry about it too much. The Bible is pretty clear about conversion being a matter of free will, and I am not in the habit of talking to people who don't want to hear it. Unless of course they've entered into an argument, and they just don't like my answer--that's just tough--run away screaming if you like. :P
