OBAMA WARNS RUSSIA OF 'COSTS' IN UKRAINE
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is warning Russia there will be costs if Russia intervenes militarily in Ukraine.
Obama says the U.S. is deeply concerned by reports of military movements by Russia inside Ukraine.
He says any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be destabilizing. He says it would violate Russia's commitment to respect Ukraine's borders and would invite global condemnation.
Obama says the U.S. stands with the world community to affirm there will be costs for an intervention.
We should just stay the hell out of that conflict, and let the Europeans deal with it.
And if I weren’t so against intervening in Syria, I would say this is a good time to get some action there, while the Russians have their hands full….always worked for them.

Flip, the A-10...as in A-10 Warthog? They used to have an A-10 group here in Myrtle Beach but they closed the base years ago. Very cool to watch them in action.
I thought that plane was designed for hunting Soviet tanks in european rolling terrain. Flies slow enough to come up low on them and have time to acquire and hit the target. Out in the desert the fast planes can find and kill the armor from a safer distance so they told us they weren't needed anymore...
I miss seeing them creep up over the tree line.
That's the thing about the A-10 Will. Nothing else comes close to filling it's shoes. It is so maneuverable at slow speeds, it completely and entirely owns the battlefield. Once air superiority is established, they can pretty much rule the battlefield with impunity.

Actually, the long term consequences for Russia could be severe, without us(or NATO, which has a treaty) firing shots. It works like this: the US is just sitting on a pile of untapped natural gas that the producers have wanted to be exporting for a while. If we agree to let them do so, and supply Europe's LNG needs, Russia just lost a boatload of capital for their shaky economy.
I really would love to hear from Sigma, because what is going on now(today, Putin is asking his Duma for permission to use the Military against the Ukraine proper)is very much akin to Hitler annexing the Sudatenland(sp?).

I'll say this is a great turn of events from the Syrian gas attacks till now. The president made 2 great decisions on both these counts. He refused to allow us to be diplomatically isolated over Syria, and has now turned the tables concerning Ukraine. Kudos.
Of course , I'm not an analyst , who can give competent commentary on today's events around Ukraine. It 's like trying to revenge for the wounded pride of U.S. policy in Syria. Also, I see clearly that the U.S. military machine provokes a proactive military force of Russia. Sort of , " Look at how aggressive Russia ! " Delirium what is . While everyone knows that if Russia does not provoke, it is not dangerous . But of course , even the most calm dog starts to bite, if its pulling the tail. It seems that the U.S. military machine can not stop until somebody does not destroy their illusions.
Everything will be as always. Russia at least regain Alaska.
sigma, your comments about how Russia is calm but provoked by military aggression of the US are a little out of place.
Where a few years ago, if these events were taking place, we would have reports about US moving military assets toward the Ukraine and rallying allies to join us...calling for the world to stand up against the Russian involvement etc. Even if we had no intention of going in we would do that just to create some leverage for future negotiations...to steer the process a little bit, etc.
Instead we read reports of the US cutting its military forces to pre WWII numbers and Obama hasn't even uttered a decent squeak like a frightened mouse let alone a threat. So anything Russia does over there is not because we are threatening.
As for Alaska it is a simple fact of life. Alaska belongs to the US. You cant have it. You don't possess the means to take it so it will remain a part of the US.
Obama'a preferred method of leading from behind and overall weak statements has led to:

Russia CAN protect other countries from the American intervention in their internal affairs by means of military force. But Russia prefers to work with only diplomatic methods today. But the USA continue to remain stupid as the teenager who by miracle survived once in a dangerous fight, but persistently continues to look for for himself blow a knife in a liver. It seems that we are waited by the new Caribbean Crisis. And I am not sure that it can end peacefully this time.
