it varies, I know, from state to state, but, to my mind it is still ludicrous to assign citizenship to the unborn. What metric are you proposing that we use to test for human individuality instead?snoopy wrote:1: How does "viability" pertain to citizenship/identity as a human individual?
2: How does age at the time of natural death pertain to citizenship/identity as a human individual?
3: How does age (in general) pertain to citizenship/identity as a human individual?
I think a good metric would be that you're genetically human (or some other species of people) and that you have brain activity (enough so that you would not be considered brain dead in a medical sense). This would make early abortions acceptable, but it would prohibit later ones.
Note that naively using only genetics as your metric for human individuality would allow for human individuality beginning at conception but it would also lead to absurdities like having to recognize the deceased as human individuals!

Problem is for the right to lifers as I have stated before, you don’t become a citizen until you are born.

So by your logic it is OK to kill any illegal Mexicans we see roaming out streets.Spidey wrote:Problem is for the right to lifers as I have stated before, you don’t become a citizen until you are born.

no, but you can't defend them by declaring them citizens, either. And, of course, you couldn't tell who was illegal by just looking at them either, but that is another matter around profiling.woodchip wrote:So by your logic it is OK to kill any illegal Mexicans we see roaming out streets.Spidey wrote:Problem is for the right to lifers as I have stated before, you don’t become a citizen until you are born.
