Sorry Vision, this is not quite what you are knee jerking thinking about. In Michigan the voters (myself included) voted to ban the use of race in determining college admissions. For this there are some who call Michigan voters racist most notably:

"Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia faulted Justice Sonia Sotomayor for making what he regards as a "shameful" suggestion that the Michigan voters who decided to ban affirmative action in college admissions were motivated by racism."

SCOTUS found in favor of the Michigan law and vindicates those of us who never believed race should be a factor for special treatment. College admissions are just the first step, hopefully race as a factor in jobs will be another item eliminated. Your thoughts appreciated.

As a aside, how many of you even heard of the decision by your news sources?

It was reported pretty much everywhere, as almost every Supreme Court decision is, so I'm not sure what you're implying.

If Jon Stewart hasn't figured out a funny line for it you might be surprised how many people would say they haven't heard it in their daily news programming.

As for ending the law, if you never take training wheels off you aren't a bike rider.

My guess is Michigan is claiming there is no need and where there is no need, left in place, the law becomes an impediment instead of an aid.

Such an objective view to encourage that discourse you lament...in advance....without letting the people speak for themselves.

As for the numbers being allowed to speak for themselves. Oh were it possible! But sadly they are usually told to shut up, rework themselves to tell a lie.

Number of murders in your city, number of illegals arrested and deported, number of people who have healthcare, number of people unemployed, number of people being spied on by NSA, etc. etc.
It is an industry unto itself teaching those numbers how to talk.

1) You started the thread. I'm not leading the charge. I'm not even the 2nd or 3rd poster.

Affirmative Action was originally meant to right past wrongs against minorities. It was never meant to be a permanent solution. However, we shall see if all those past wrongs return as common policy in Michigan Universities yet again. Old habits die hard. Time will tell.

A pull and a push. Now, not that I really know what the push is, but considering waveforms can be depicted by the unique shapes each one creates AND acoustic levitation, it seems worth investigating. Maybe you can help with the definitions.

Well, JFTR I was speaking of relative concepts, not as an absolute. (hence the examples)

Gravity is most likely an effect, hard to say if it has an opposite or not…it would in its conceptual form…Pull…Push.

In physics it not about opposites, but more like negative versions. Example…Proton…Anti-Proton

Well, my point is that gravity can obviously be overcome by acoustics. I didn't mean it in the absolute sense either. It's hard to conceptualize physics anyways and with this crowd I try to cater to the lowest-common denominator, because more than likely acoustics do play a role in helping our Universe maintain stability, but only with interaction.

EDIT: I think it's safe to say that an observable counter to gravity can be acoustic.

And just to set the record straight, I do not mean to say acoustics in the strictest sense of the word but to take the concept and transfer it over to the interaction between gravity and electromagnetic waves on a cosmic scale. I've learned that playfulness with words is a big no-no here!

You know Ferno, one of the things I enjoyed the most was the brainstorming sessions. Take that picture for instance of using sound waves to cause the water to levitate. I like working within a body. It's more fun that way and you get to feed off each other, which is how it is supposed to be. I guess that's what I've always tried to relive on this board but you guys are incapable because your too negative and mean-spirited. So, I just brainstorm with My Lord now and when push comes to shove I'll be able to MacGyver my way through while you guys bite and destroy each other. Have fun with that.

I think there is something to it, but my thoughts are nowhere near organized to satisfy childish challenges. As I said before, it's an idea I got from watching waveforms depicted by sand, water levitated by sound waves and dust motes swirling by the Orbital Angular Momentum emitted by light waves. These seem worthy of, listen for it, "further investigation" to maybe deriving a unified theory. I wouldn't bother with trying to compete with the complexes exhibited on this board anyways. You people don't know how to conduct yourselves, your just trying to find somebody to vent your frustrations and feelings of inferiority on. I got nothing to prove to the likes of you anyways. I was just interested in having some fun conversations that may lead to be proven totally false or actually lead to something, but like I said, you guys are too negative and mean-spirited. Only God knows why but I'm sure there's a reason behind it

Sigma, in case you aren't joking, Michael Jackson was a lot of things, exploited and not raised in a proper fashion where he could experience normal life but he was also a mental case paranoid drug addict and quite likely a pedophile. Perhaps a most loving and nurturing pedophile but still ultimately a predator.

He wouldn't have lasted past age 24 if he was growing up like that in Russia and you would be denying he existed....

Are you talking about American "artists" or "celebrities"? There's a difference. Michael Jackson was a celebrity who happened to write some great music. He was also a weird pervert, so even our schools shouldn't be teaching about him. We've studied Russian artists and composers in OUR schools as far back as I can remember, so why don't Russian schools teach about true American artists and composers, or are Russians afraid of learning something other than lies about America?

I meant American composers and performers. Actually I graduated from music school, piano and accordion. When I performed at concerts and even the orchestra. But it was a long time ago. Now I can hardly fulfill even Moonlight Sonata. Despite the fact that I am well acquainted with the work of Russian and European classical music, however, I hardly know the creativity of American composers. Now I prefer to listen to the American breaks. But I will observe with great interest the works of classic American composers, if you can give references.
