And get my ass sued into the next millenium? No thanks! This country is riddled with frivilous lawsuits that she would probably stand a good chance of winning by playing the "I'm an innocent weak little girl" card.roid wrote:if you hold the door open for some chick, and she starts bitching at you with this feminist crap. just punch her in the face and expect her to fight you.
equal treatment
feminism is ruining boys (ie: young kids), making them feel bad for acting how their fathers act.

Feels good to have ruffled feathers, don't it? That's the secondary purpose of the internet (the primary, of course, being porn).
With the exception of kurupt's weird coworkers, is this actually a problem for anyone? I dunno. I doubt it's worth all the smoke being blown in this thread (some of which includes threats of violence!). I like venting anger as much as the next guy - moreso - but call a spade a spade.
I don't take television as the authority for what I should think or feel. And to those that do, or let that happen to their kids... well, people tune into what they want to hear. Men and women alike.Fusion pimp wrote:Turn on your television and watch the adds portraying men as idiots and women coming to the rescue. Better yet, turn on a prime-time show and watch the message.. men =idiots.. women= all things.
Does this have anything to do with feminism? Sounds like a separate legal issue.Fusion pimp wrote:I hardly think that giving the women the right to chose but men have not having any say is an extreme case. Men can't excercise the right to chose because they have no right to chose.
I completely agree. In fact, I've never encountered anyone who didn't completely agree. I'm not pro or anti anything with respect to feminism, except for the fact that reasonable equality makes sense (duh). So my point in this thread (and this is the last time I'll harp on it, because apparently none of you are curious about it - and then, why should you be?) is:Fusion pimp wrote:The movement started innocently(afaik) but has progressed from equal rights to equal ability. All the complaining, protesting and fighting will not make us physically or mentally equal.

Mehyam,
When it comes to feminism: I'm pro-"reasonable equality" and anti-"dumb feminazi b**** who wants to oppress men or turn men into women". I suppose another way to say it is I'm pro feminism, and anti neo-feminaziism.
And yes, it is a problem for more people than just kurupt. I've had girls (I don't call them "women" if they don't act like it) complain when I've held the door open for them or offered to help them carry something heavy out to their car. On other websites, I've had girls spew forth venom about how worthless men are -- stuff that, if you replaced "men" with "blacks" would make the KKK blush. And the biggest problem is, while it may be "isolated" incidents, it's the predominant voice of the feminist movement nowadays.
Every movement has its morons -- "NRA has paranoid militants. Christian sects have racist fringe elements. Pacifists include some people who would stand by while all those around them are slaughtered." The problem is, the morons have become the main voice for feminism, and the masses follow suit. You don't treat TV as an authority for what you should think or feel -- but the problem is, the masses sometimes do, and the voices they're hearing are the voices of the loons. That's why you see so many complaints in this thread about the way TV portrays men, and about specific incidents at work -- because the voices of the loons are the predominant ones, and the sane feminists aren't being heard.

My feather don't get ruffled that easily.
Television is a persuasive teacher, however subtle( or not so subtle in many cases) the message may be. The average child witnesses thousands(the figure was something like over 15000) of televsion murders prior to the age of 18, it has to have an effect.I don't take television as the authority for what I should think or feel. And to those that do, or let that happen to their kids... well, people tune into what they want to hear. Men and women alike.
Add/commercials are carefully written and played-out in order to heavily appeal to the target audience.
It does have an effect, even on people who are aware of its agenda. My point is, you don't have to take television as an authority. Through all its microlessons it slowly shapes and distorts your line of thinking without you realizing it. Slowly Desensitizing, it allows the not-so-normal to become the norm. Whether or not it's intentional is the question in my mind. I don't think television is bad, there are some awesome shows on if you look for them. I don't watch much TV(couple hours a week, maybe) but when I do it's generally TLC, Animal Planet or some other educational show(love documentarys).
I completely agree. In fact, I've never encountered anyone who didn't completely agree.
I know quite a few and they have an attitude of 'If a man can do it, I can do it better'. It's the 'better' part, the strive to obtain an advanced position. They already are better than men in so many areas, but they're not satified with that, they strive to be better than men in all areas and it's impossible. Conversely, men are naturally better at some things than women.
Reasonable equality makes perfect sense.I'm not pro or anti anything with respect to feminism, except for the fact that reasonable equality makes sense (duh).
Yes, it is a problem and if you believe that "kurupt's weird co-workers" are the exception I'll repsectfully disagree. 70%(maybe more) of the women I know feel that they can do anything a man can do and have the feminazi attitude, in my eyes 70% is the majority. So my point in this thread (and this is the last time I'll harp on it, because apparently none of you are curious about it - and then, why should you be?) is:

It may not be a highly visible problem currently, but I believe in a pro-active approach.[John Kerry] I think it is visible, just look at the number of women *choosing* to be single mothers.[/John Kerry]
I agree that 'threats of violence' is completely unnecessary.
Have a good weekend, Kai.
I sent you an e-mail a few days ago regarding the 3dpro I still owe you for. I'd like to settle it if you don't mind.

I appreciate the gift. If you threaten me with heinous acts again, I'll tell your girlfriend you played D3 and were a member of the anally influenced underworld of deviants, FIST. How cruel can one man be?Okay, I can settle it right now: I hearby renounce any debt owed to me with respect to aforementioned electronic input device. We're square. some good points in that article.Lothar wrote:Interesting article I just happened to be linked to from another site today: The Pussification Of The Western Male. It's a little bit crude and a bit political, but mostly right on.
but that particular article hit a slightly different nerve for me, which i have taken to NHB.
i think the guy is swinging too hard the other way.
i need a neoMASCUList like that (yes i made the word up) ranting for my cause about as much as women need neofeminists.
there's a better balance to be had.
