AWESOME…

My parents used to tell me stories about an old Siamese cat we had back in the day named Smokey, and how he used to sit near the children’s cribs and “protect” them.

Some of the stories were hard to believe, but after seeing that video…well what can I say.

Here's the reverse situation, a dolphin seeking out a human for some help. I wonder how the dolphin knew that a human diver would be of assistance?

It's all just instinct. Animals come to the aid of not only people, but also other animals. We do not believe that the cuckoo has superintellect when she use this feature of other birds to be breastfed her cubs? :) While it is true there are many touching instances where dolphins save people from sharks, elephants rescued young children, monkeys save people, and mongooses, etc. Furthermore, it is known that there are several confirmed instances where human kids were raised by wild animals.

Unfortunately, I figured this would happen. He must have been born mean.

Yeah, that was pretty much a given as soon as it attacked the boy. I don't know that it's a case of "born mean" so much as not properly socialized, or else having a behavioral issue that was never properly addressed.

Sad that some dog owners don't socialize their dogs properly, or worse, they train them to be aggressive. The dog ends up being the one to pay for it.

Yea, and the owners should pay as well, don’t they have leash laws anymore?

This does not necessarily fault dog owners. Maybe a long time children threw stones at the dog or they tortured her puppies?

Yes it does fault dog owner…you can’t always predict what your dog will do…hence the leash.

The owners may not be the blame for the dogs behavior, but they are responsible for the results.

Some dog owners tend to forget that their pet dogs are not too far removed from wild wolves. There was a woman who was jogging down the street with her 2 German Shepherds a couple of years ago. She was violating our leash law by letting them run along side her without leashes. She happens to run by my neighbor's home where 2 kids and their cat were outside playing. The dogs spotted the cat, took off from the women, chased and caught the cat, then proceeded to rip it apart in a blood frenzy front of the horrified children. Another neighbor had to get a golf club to drive the 2 dogs off. What does this idiot dog owner say after that? "They've NEVER done anything like this before!" What a moron.

Hee, hee, that's sweet. Proud Russian cat!

More cuteness, of the watery kind. A shark that likes to be petted on the nose.

My thoughts exactly.
I wonder if the owner(s?) even knew the dog was out. There was one time I was delivering mail to a house with a fenced-in backyard... their dog managed to jump the fence, chase after me and bite me before I managed to get back to the main sidewalk. I think she would have kept chasing me even after I'd left "her" territory if the owner hadn't called her back.
Granted, it is probably more likely in this case that the owner was walking the dog off-leash. Occam's Razor.

I admit there's no love lost between me and dogs, but... it's sad this story had to even happen at all, let alone end this way.

On the other fork of the tail, cute adorable shark XD.
