Re: Interesting parallels
It's nothing new Ferno. There's always a boogeyman to blame our ills on. In the past, it was the communist. Today, it's the Muslim.

Nice staged event, not sure what it's supposed to prove.

Re: Interesting parallels
Maybe Putin can knock the Muslims off the top rung and get his brand of Mother Russia back on top.
Don't call it a comeback,
Don't call it a comeback,
Re: Interesting parallels
Well, what can I say. Because my work is a long time associated with business aviation, I talked with many of our guests, including Muslims. I have a few friends among the well-known European civil aviation pilots. Muslims are complex people to communicate, it's true. But I can tell you that I can find a common language with a Muslim is much faster than an American, German or British. It's just from my experience.

Re: Interesting parallels
Perhaps, but your country didn't fare very well in Afghanistan either. Russia was forced out as well. I'm guessing that Muslims only like the Russians so that they can get their hands on a LOT of weapons, to use for killing Americans and each other. Maybe if Russia quit selling all those AK's and rocket propelled grenade launchers to violent countries, we wouldn't have to be worrying about Jihadists right now. And to be fair, the U.S. needs to quit selling this crap to whatever side we're rooting for at the time. These proxy wars are stupid, expensive and tend to bite us in the butt later when these morons take a dislike to the U.S.sigma wrote:Well, what can I say. So hows that common language with the Chechen's working out?sigma wrote: But I can tell you that I can find a common language with a Muslim is much faster than an American, German or British. It's just from my experience.
Re: Interesting parallels
Russia has always had a lot of Russian Muslims of different nationalities. For a successful and easy to communicate with them you just need to know the specifics of their traditions, customs, mentality and moral code. While I clearly see that the Americans, British and Germans affected by the anti-Russian ideology. Easier to dig a huge tree stump than persuade them. The saddest thing is that even in intimate conversations with them, I always feel that they perceive Russians as a potential enemy. Influence of Western ideology is very large, in fact.
Regarding communication with the Chechens...(and Ingush, Dagestani, and Kabardians (is nearly the same) ). This is another big topic of conversation. If very briefly say is to find a common language with them, you have to become a true friend to them. This friendship can not be bought for money. But I want to warn you about some of the features, if you want to become a friend of Chechen. Chechen without hesitation sacrifice his life for his friend, but if you betray him, he will be the first who will cut your throat.woodchip wrote:[So hows that common language with the Chechen's working out?

Re: Interesting parallels
Yeah, it's well known that Chechnya absolutely hates Russia, so that language is probably pretty nasty. It looks like a few Ukrainians hate Putin too.woodchip wrote:So hows that common language with the Chechen's working out?sigma wrote: But I can tell you that I can find a common language with a Muslim is much faster than an American, German or British. That's what I said. If "small amount" of Ukrainians is actually neofascists, Americans in general that it is just aliens from another planet I do not even know what you need to flog flogging to set straighttunnelcat wrote:Yeah, it's well known that Chechnya absolutely hates Russia, so that language is probably pretty nasty. Re: Interesting parallels
Don't feel too bad sigma. Chechnya hates the U. S. more than Russia. You're just closer.
Back to the thread. Thank you Heritage Foundation for this one.

Oh, and by the way, we got one of the Benghazi ringleaders in custody......somewhere. We weren't just sitting on our laurels and letting these bastards get away with killing Americans.

Re: Interesting parallels
Perhaps I should apologize to you that I project my dissatisfaction of U.S. foreign policy for you personally. Although ordinary Americans absolutely nothing to blame. This is wrong.tunnelcat wrote:Don't feel too bad sigma.
Absolutely. That's why I know more than you. For example, that as a bodyguard Vladimir Putin has Chechen special forces battalion.tunnelcat wrote:Chechnya hates the U. S. more than Russia. You're just closer.
Re: Interesting parallels
Well, it's not really supposed to prove anything.Spidey wrote:Nice staged event, not sure what it's supposed to prove.
But, even with the rather toxic environment surrounding moderates due to the perception that all muslims are extremists, it's good to know there are people willing to stand up for what's right.
Re: Interesting parallels
It's a feelgood video in a "See, not all Americans are like this" way.
But like Spidey, i'd prefer to see the raw stats rather than the cherry-picked cases they chose for the video. Without that, i'm afraid this video is nothing but an editor's opinion, i don't know what the real stats were on how many biggots, heroes, or bystanders they actually found. What if the biggoted reactions actually outnumbered the hero reactions 4:1, but that wasn't the message the editor wanted to air so they made it appear the biggots were a minority? I'm not saying that's likely, i'm saying i'd like to be assured of the factual integrity of real-life examples before i ingest them into my head as reliable stats.
I'd rather feel-informed than feel-good.
To loosely reference your other thread Ferno, i'd prefer it if this experiment was done by experts, to inform rather than to entertain.

Re: Interesting parallels
It's not really an experiment in a scientific sense roid, but rather one to see what people would do given a certain situation. They only have x amount of minutes to work with.

Re: Interesting parallels
I know it's supposed to be a feel-good video, but IMO it was pretty useless since nobody actually acts like that. It was too much. Here, let me make a feel-good video about people slitting other people's throats and the average American standing up for the victims in a gas station...
Re: Interesting parallels
You TV-watchers and your virtually nonexistent anti-Islam propaganda
People always tell everyone else to grow up, and then when I do, I find out that I'm almost always surrounded by a bunch of children grown up like vegetables. It's not healthy to just download everything on TV into your brain. I knew something was wrong at age 9 when every story was bad news. That should tell you someone is trying to sell you on some sort of idea or ideology. Keep in mind this was 10 years before Descent 3 existed where you Internet sock puppets claimed that I was "beyond stupid" and didn't know what I was talking about.
I'm surprised anyone even makes any anti-Islam nonsense anymore. LOL What a waste of energy for the CIA et. al.
