Drive letters don't match now.

I installed a new HD and partitioned it differently then before and now my other computer on my LAN has different network dive letters and names for the partitions (drives) on the new one.

Is there a way to delete network drive folders on the second computer and then add them on again?

Hope I made some kind of sense.

yes.

go tools-> disconnect network drive.

and then remap the network drives, start at the end of the alphabet.

The computer conected to my main computer is running Win ME.

If I go to Tools, it gives me the option to "Disconnect Network Drive" but nothing happens.

I can delete the "drives"

What I'm trying to correct are folders like "Programs (e) on Wolfe" under "My network places" in case I'm not using the correct terminology.

then go to network neighbourhood, and then re-map the right folders.

its the way windows deals with partitions and drive letters, lets say you have only one hdd in your computer:

hdd0:
primary partition - c:
logical 1 in extended - d:
logical 2 in extended - e:

and so on.

if you add another hdd with primary and extended too, the drive letters are the following:

hdd0:
primary partition - c:
hdd1:
primary partition - d:
hdd0:
logical 1 in extended - e:
logical 2 in extended - f:

hdd1:
logical 1 in extended - g:
logical 2 in extended - h:

and so on, after that then the cdroms gets its driveletters, hope you get the concept.

if you remove hdd1 everything is back to normal.

This one worked for me and cleaned up the mess at the same time.

"thewolfe, you can just delete those wrong drives/folders in My Network Places or in My Computer. That'll free up the drive letters.

I've now figured out how to get them corrected in My Network Places (MNP) in ME. I've got a network of w2k and ME.

First I deleted the wrong icons in MNP in ME.

Then I unshared all the drives/folders in w2k.

Then I rebooted ME. Now it's correct, no icons because no network shares.

Now I reshared all the drives/folders on the w2k machine.

Rebooted ME. The icons all showed up again correctly."
