Meme on Facebook
"In light of the recent surge of phony Christians in the US, God has presented a test, placing thousands of poor, starving, and sometimes sick children on the US border. Compassion, love for children, love for your fellow man, kindness for the sick, honor, honesty, integrity and respect for human decency are being tested. God is in the room, and he IS watching."

Maybe god should just do something about the violence these people are fleeing from.
But, lets not pass up an opportunity to bash Christians, wouldn’t want to do that…now would we.

No, I think Obama has placed them there as a test. A test of the will of his opposition. He lit a fire and now he wants to stand back and have you and your ilk declare the burning is of some one elses doing.
God is just a rhetorical tool in your scenario. There is no shame in rejecting the god you invoke. He is nothing but a poseur.

If the failure of our countries' leaders is a test from God, I think the obvious correct response would be to fill the prisons with those in positions of responsibility, and begin to actually correct the problem while providing aid to the affected children. Or were the stupid pew-sitters supposed to ignore the political end of it?

No, see…I was making a point on how stupid your meme was, not really giving god advice.
You see, you have about as much right to decide what god is doing, as I have to tell him what to do….get it…nahhh I doubt it, because you are the hyper defensive type.

So... what brought this up? Did you adopt? IMO this is obviously a political topic, or you wouldn't have started it like that, but where the rubber meets the road is clouded. You seem to be merging a political attack with a vague/general plea for specific Christian charity.

Sorry. Your party is the one allowing the illegal immigration issue to fester at the moment when it should have been resolved a long time ago. I don't trust the topic as such.
Personally I think the American government should have been on Mexico before it ever got this far out of hand, and I'm not ready to buddy-up with the folks who allowed it to get here in a demonstration of good-will toward the victims.

Lets see, abortions bad, it kills helpless, innocent children. But taking little suffering child refugees who are already in our safe hands and sending them back to guaranteed horrible conditions, possibly their deaths, back in their own poor countries is just A OK. Nope, that's not hypocrisy.Spidey wrote:Maybe god should just do something about the violence these people are fleeing from.

The New Colossus
Emma Lazarus wrote:Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Do some research….I bet there are Christian groups willing to help these people, and plenty of Christians willing to take them into their homes.
But if you prefer to dwell on some made up internet meme…well what can I say.

Re: Meme on Facebook
no one disputes that. In fact, Christian groups in Texas are behind that city taking in 3000 refugees. However, it is FASCINATING how so many folks who SELF-IDENTIFY as Christian don't wish to stand up and shout, "they're children, in the name of God, do everything to protect them", instead crowing about 'liberals' as self-appointed vigilante types yell at buses full of kids and mothers, focusing on POLITICS instead of human life, human dignity and kindness. Just sayin', and if anyone finds that observation 'Anti-Christian' it isn't.....it's Anti-Hypocrite.

The sudden substantial increase in youngsters arriving does not parallel any sudden change in the environment down south.
It does come on the heels of some Obama policy that all but begs them to come (actually there might even be some begging yet to be revealed) and the reports of commentary of the children and their family that are coming out completely support my assertions.

as I noted already, Christian churches ARE coming to the aid of the kids. However, I've read just about enough commentary about shooting them, or sending them back immediately from self-identifying Christians it makes one wonder about certain individuals. In fact, my money is going through a Methodist Church charity which has been providing care in Texas, and the Red Cross. Will Robinson wrote:The premise of your challenge is completely flawed.callmeslick wrote:please, Will, go ahead and explain how the evil Obama and his lackeys manufactured a drug-gang crisis in Central America, held back the regional economies and forced people to risk life and death to come here, or worse, send their kids here at even greater peril.

The regions you cite haven't had a sudden increase of violence and oppression that coincides with the sudden influx of 'refugees'.
What does parallel that sudden influx is a softening of immigration policy and a publicizing of a possible amnesty condition that was already put in play for children that are in country.
The common thread is that Latino family members here in the states have been calling family down south and saying "now is the time" "children get to stay".
You can puff up and hide behind your vague assertion that I don't know about the region and you are too befuddled to know how to articulate the situation but I don't think your act is fooling anyone.

you conveniently leave out a gang situation in Guatamala, Honduras and Nicaragua that has been steadily growing for a decade. What does parallel that sudden influx is a softening of immigration policy and a publicizing of a possible amnesty condition that was already put in play for children that are in country.
you know this, personally? I call BS. Most of those I've seen interviewed don't even have immediate family here. Those people are either hiding out from the gangs, or dead already in many cases. You dont pay attention at all. I said the influx and the violence they escape have not both risen at the same time. I said absolutely nothing about kids bringing violence here...
Yes, as I implied, it hasn't suddenly jumped up...it has been steady. The sudden influx however is not. Thus the descriptor "sudden". the numbers from Obama's own administration confirm what I am saying. Your denial is your problem and doesn't alter the reality.callmeslick wrote:you conveniently leave out a gang situation in Guatamala, Honduras and Nicaragua that has been steadily growing for a decade. Will Robinson wrote:What does parallel that sudden influx is a softening of immigration policy and a publicizing of a possible amnesty condition that was already put in play for children that are in country.
No, I'm relating stories I heard recently in the media:callmeslick wrote:you know this, personally? I call BS. Most of those I've seen interviewed don't even have immediate family here. You said they don't have family here I think many do and if it isn't family telling them to come it is friends...or they hear from their friends back home of their success and a changing attitude..pro amnesty...Obama continuing to make more eligible to stay inspite of his statements that he is advising them to not come. etc. etc.As it now stands, the 2008 law guarantees unaccompanied minors from those countries access to a federal asylum officer and a chance to tell a U.S. judge that they were victims of a crime or face abuse or sexual trafficking if they are sent home. If the claim is deemed credible, judges may grant a waiver from immediate deportation.
"Word of mouth gets back, and now people are calling and saying, 'This is what I said'" in court, said a senior U.S. law enforcement official, who was not authorized to speak on the record. "Whether it is true or not, the perception is that they are successfully entering the United States.... That is what is driving up the landings."
The increase has been dramatic. For most of the last decade, U.S. agents apprehended fewer than 4,000 unaccompanied children from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras each year, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection figures.
The total jumped to 10,146 in fiscal year 2012. It doubled to 20,805 last fiscal year. It nearly doubled again, to 39,133, between last October and June 15 this year.
As I mentioned I am using the Obama administrations figures and he disagrees with your assertion.callmeslick wrote:the internet is your friend. No, your complaints and your words sound hollow and empty because again; You say that about everything Obama does. You repeat it so frequently that it gives readers the impression that you automatically won't like anything Obama does regardless of how you would view the action if it was done by some other independent person or group. How many different groups of people do you allege I claim he exploits to warrant your characterization of my attributing it to "everything he does"?
Seems to me I have been pointing out that particular tactic on more than one occasion but it isn't the only thing I find him to be guilty of.
I could list numerous things I find him to be wrong about that don't include that tactic. I have, in fact, talked about them... foreign policy, his lies about the ACA, spying on citizens, his hypocrisy on tactics to combat terrorism, his dishonest representation of the IRS debacle, his stonewalling on Benghazi, his arrogance, his numerous campaign promise flip flops, for example.
No, now that you have me looking into it I'm quite sure you are wrong. And that brings me back to the same conclusion. It happens to stand out to you among the myriad of complaints I have about him...hence it does seem to have resonated. Perhaps you should objectively consider your position because the inventory of my vast disapproval of him clearly is deeper and more varied than just the one exploitation tactic.
And I don't see why anyone should restrain from pointing out the way he uses race or class to divide and conquer as often as he does. Why should there be a limit to the frequency of pointing out his use of such a despicable tactic? He certainly has no limits for employing the tactic!
No, I'll continue to poke people in the eye with it just as freely as he wields it as a weapon....and continue to be amused by the reaction it evokes. You can learn to adapt or not.

Re: Meme on Facebook
While I might have singled out the particular complaint you made in this topic, you make similar complaints in every topic about Obama or democrats in general. When you aren't talking about them, or Obama/democrats aren't the focus of the discussion, you usually write stuff that is pretty worthwhile to read.
But when the subject is democrats, Obama, liberals or anything near that, you could pretty much replace yourself with a text robot that rants about them being race pimps, playing political games, spying, lying/dishonesty, weakness, enabling terrorists, exploiting <children/puppies/kittens/baby seals/etc>, wielding absurd evil powers from the darkness, need I go on?... No matter what it is that the Obama administration does, you won't like it. Even if some of this stuff is a legitimate reason to dislike the administrations policies, you complain about everything to such an extent that readers can't discern the signal from the noise anymore. We can't tell if you don't like these policies because they are bad policies, or if you don't like these policies because they are democrat/obama/liberal policies anymore.
