A Russian tweet...

Post by Nightshade »

Image
The post by Russia's deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin included side-by-side images of the two presidents. In one, Putin is confidently holding a majestic leopard. In the other, a notably younger Obama is holding a small, fluffy dog.

The caption: "We have different values and allies."
It may seem silly on the face of it- but that is exactly the way the rest of the world views America these days.

Unfortunately- perception = reality in many corners of this Earth.

Uh, huh. Holding a big cat makes a man a HE MAN. I guess owning plain old dogs rules out men being men, including a bunch of our past presidents.

Plus, I'm sure that "cat" Putin is holding isn't even his "pet". It's his compensating for something photo op. Reagan, however, did own a couple of KITTIES along with his dog, so that must make him a girlie man.

You don't get it woody. Putin is the one who is uncomfortable with his own manhood. He's a short little man and obviously feels the need to constantly compensate for the lack of whatever he thinks is missing. Most of our past and present presidents never felt the need to "prove" their manhood by showing off with big animals or flexing their biceps or having big parades with missles and goose stepping soldiers marching in front of them like a giant phallus. Smart men quietly rule behind the scenes, little men feel the need to strut publically like banty rosters.

I think you're drawing parallels and making assertions that aren't necessarily supported by reality, TC, and you really didn't need to throw the bit about the "giant fallus" in. :P The pic is funny because it's true. It doesn't legitimately say anything about the men that we don't already know. Obama != Tarzan Putin != Prince Charles

Then I guess all our previous presidents are girlie men, including Reagan, because they're holding mere dogs and cats in their photos. Some past presidents even owned goats. If you don't think Putin is swaggering around like a short wannabe alpha male for his Russian populace, and that it's all fake show, then you're a sucker. However, us women can see right through the phallic swagger. :twisted2:

Plus, I'd like to know what Obama should do different? Hold a lion in his lap and a sword in the other? Nuke Russia as a side note? I'm guessing all you males want Obama to look like this, a black he man with muscles of steel. :twisted2:

You have not understood anything, Cat... I'm not going to persuade you. I'll just tell you that the promotion and public relations is the hallmark of Western man, not Russian. Even for the average Russian man is seen as a PR ugliness, that person will no longer respect his friends. And even more so, the President of Russia will never allow myself to make cheap PR. Oh, my God, how little you know about Russia... And yet, you are very fond to talk about it sagely    I'll tell you what it means to this photo Putin with snow leopard. He just wanted to leave a souvenir photo with rare animals. I do also photographed with bison to leave a souvenir photo to see them.

I like how Russia tries to make the U.S. look weak, when Russia's tech is almost 20 years behind when it comes to war technology. Russia sticks a computer in a rocket and calls it a drone. I could make one of Russia's "drones" in my living room without even breaking any laws, since they're so small.

The only thing Russia has accomplished this year is aquire a crappy country that can't play soccer and force the U.S. to invest more in high tech weapons.

Sigma, Russia is basically making the U.S. more powerful. You say "boo" and we start building anti-missile defense systems and killer robots. Maybe Russia is part of the CIA? :P

Ha, ha sigma. Males are all the same whether they be Russian or American. I understand fully, or else your deputy prime minister, who created that picture of Putin vs. Obama, wouldn't have started this little "contest" about whether your leader or our leader is the bigger and badest man. Besides, I'm betting that snow leopard would run for the hills when that "little dog" charged him yapping all the way.

Funny :) Especially given the fact that symbol of Russia is the brown bear, not Himalayan. In North America, brown bears called grizzly. You can get to know them in Alaska. I think this dog was very lucky that she had not met with the symbol of Russia

the biologist in me feels compelled to point out that Brown bears and Grizzly Bears are distinct species. And, no, one doesn't wish to toy with either, but especially the Grizzlies.......a ranger once told me that they can run 20 mph through brush. That was enough to make me wary during fishing trips to Montana and Wyoming!

Yeah, and black bear mothers can be pretty ferocious when protecting their cubs, so I wouldn't want to get near a black bear mamma and her cubs either.

But have you ever noticed that small dogs will yap and chase after things much bigger than themselves, like big animals and even cars? Any of those would kill or squash a small dog in a heartbeat. What are these little dogs thinking? Are they crazy, or bold, or compensating for something? :P

TC, with all due respect to you, when you're trying to make another typical American filth for Russia, in the best traditions of the American media, you'll always step on a rake. I promise you that. Although I am always ready for a reasonable dialogue. This may be the beginning of a deep understanding :)

No sigma, I'm not disparaging Russia. I'm just having some fun poking "the bear" and you're taking the bait as we say it here. I actually like Russians. They are a great people and nation. The difference between us is, I know our leaders are corrupt, greedy fools, but most Russians believe that their leaders are perfect gentlemen.

By the way, you've obviously never owned a small dog. They tend to be the nasty little monsters with loud mouths and no brains. They'd probably all die if left out in the wild because they're too stupid to not chase after things that are bigger than them and easily have them for lunch.

Bears do tend get a bad reputation. This one saved a crow from drowning at the Budapest Zoo.

I'm with TC on the bear thing. Some of my best non-fishing moments on a few trips were spent laying low in the woods and observing bear behavior. Once, I spent about a half hour before starting to fish watching a mother bear teaching the babies how to snag trout in shallow riffles. It was enough to make me laugh at the idea of being a decent angler with a fly rod in hand. Amazing, suprisingly agile creatures.

The same thing. My dog does not like to swim, does not like big dogs and always angrily throws at them, even if they are not aggressive. But he never touches the little dog, even if it's males. Here I was able to take a picture of that when another hedgehog got to our house at night, my dog is trying to quickly gobble up their food to a hedgehog got nothing :)

as to adrenaline, Sigma, don't get too worried about me. Most of my angling is in the Eastern US, where we have black bears. For centuries they've been hunted and nowadays genetics has pushed them to being pretty docile around humans. One has to really sneak up to get a close look, and even then, you have to be downwind. The only violence potentially is the mothers with cubs, and any fool knows to give them latitude(my observations above were from a position about 5 feet from my car). My western trips put me in grizzly country, and THOSE, I give a wide berth. If I can see one at all, I move. Frankly, with a little common sense, they are far less dangerous than the mountain cats, which are sneaky as hell.

Well, I never hunted mountain cats, but the few times I was on the hunt for bears. Experienced hunters have told me that it bears a very cunning and ruthless bitches. There were cases when you are two meters away from a huge bear, and you will not notice it as long as he does not lash out at you. With other animals much easier.

Full version I like better.

As they say the Americans themselves in such cases - "It was just a joke! We did not want to offend anyone."

Speaking Without jokes, then given that the building opposite the American Embassy was also this animation, then it is possible to understand that the purpose of this action has nothing to do with racism.

If we talk about racism, it is likely possible to accuse Barack Obama of being racist against the Russian in Ukraine, where the Nazi regime established by the United States continues every day to bomb civilians.
To let you know the first questions asked by the Ukrainian children who managed to escape to Russia, it's "Where's the basement?", "Where is the water?", "Planes are not going to bomb me anymore?"

And at the same time, representatives of international organizations to investigate the causes of the fall of Boeing 777, MH 17, do not want to investigate it! They find any reason to quickly go home. After the departure of the foreign commission to investigate the causes of this tragedy, the UN Security Council has blocked a Russian proposal to extend the truce in the area of the fall of the Boeing.

You can believe it ?!

Because I can not believe in the reality of the situation absurd.

I totally agree with you. It would be interesting to hear your suggestions, how the international community can control aggressive dominant state in the world, which has lost control of himself, to prevent a new war and the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people. Invaded? Annexed? Tell me, why are not stupid Americans keep believe what is written in central American newspapers? You see, Top Gun, if Crimea would be captured by force, it certainly would have formed a resistance movement against Russia. At that time, 80% of population of Crimea is Russian, and all are just happy that they were able to join Russia, while the United States had already been sent warships to shoot for the Crimea, in case, if the Crimea remains belong to Ukraine.

Sigma, there are thousands of news outlets with contradicting perspectives all over the U.S.. Russia only has state and national owned news, which can't ever be anti-government.

So think really hard about this: Russia only has state and nationally owned news sources. The U.S. only has private news sources. Can you really pretend that you're getting trustworthy information?

Your government has killed more Russian journalists than it's killed Americans.

Russia is just too proud to admit they're just poor, outdated, and out of touch. Russia is weak and can only hurt little nations it can bully. Mexico is probably a nicer place to live than in Russia. Taking over the Ukraine isn't going to change that and thinking it will is stupid. If you join one crappy country with another you don't suddenly get a good one.
