Spoof scammers and push Pollsters
I keep getting calls from variations of this number. (212)662-1326, plus a bunch of others with the same area code and caller ID. It turns out it's a senior medical alert bracelet scammer after doing some Googling, so it's a scam and of course bypasses the DNC list anyway. The caller ID is always from New York. They've been calling every day, several times a days for a few weeks. How in the hell can people get rid of this kind of irritating BS? I can block that number, but they change it and start in all over again. I've got a block list 15 numbers long just for that bastard. I'm never going to answer the phone to take the bait, so why don't they take the hint?
Even though this next type of call is legal, I also despise them. There's a Republican push pollster who's been at it too, day in and day out, since I'm listed as an independent voter in the Oregon voter rolls and an election is coming up. We've got a challenge race between an incumbent Dem and a Koch-backed tea party offering (wouldn't vote for her if you paid me, especially a Koch-backed candidate). Yet another loophole, sanctioned by a clueless Congress who doesn't understand what it's like to be an average citizen in this country.

I checked my called ID last night and 11 of the last 15 calls I got were some sort of telemarketer

Are you two using land lines? If so drop those things!
I think we should have a law against robot calling of all kinds. And even if you use a live human to make the solicitation they should be forced to give out the personal phone number of the president of the company that is calling.

Not gonna matter if you have land line or cell. Cell phone companies are already starting to allow solicitations. Gotta love using your minutes to a telemarketerWill Robinson wrote:Are you two using land lines? If so drop those things!

Luckily you can still create whitelists/blacklists on most phones.CUDA wrote:Cell phone companies are already starting to allow solicitations.

Well wonders be! Even though I didn't answer the phone. I just got a call today that actually registered the correct caller ID of who was actually calling. It was from Dr. Monica Wehby, the Oregon candidate for Senate in 2014. At least she was honest about it, I'll have to hand that to her. I still won't vote for her however. Anyone who'd take campaign money from the likes of the Koch's, is just another insider slimeball licking butt just to get elected.

Ya know CUDA? I was seriously considering giving her my vote, she looked like a fresh face, until she prostrated herself to the Koch's. Why switch one bought off politician for yet another? There's no point. Plus, Merkley is a least a liberal.

Instead of emails, I'd start by pretending to drop my cc, spend five minutes looking for it, "find out" it's maxed out, then "trying another" method of payment, getting a name and address to write a cheque out to... you get the picture.
But if he's stupid enough to give you a name and address, you've got him. Then you just call the cops and tell them all the juicy info you wrung out of him.
Re: Spoof scammers and push Pollsters
I have long bought the phone with answering machine and completely turned off the sound of the speaker (in my case, it Siemens Gigaset C595) and I totally forgot about all the extraneous calls.tunnelcat wrote: ...How in the hell can people get rid of this kind of irritating BS?
If my friends want to talk for a long time or long-distance communication, they call me on my cell phone and asked to pick up on a regular landline telephone. For these purposes, it suffices to choose the per-minute rate of the mobile operator, and $ 10 in your account you easily will be enough for 3-4 months.

Yes, damn it, the Americans in their homeland can not walk the streets because of the uncontrolled black criminals, the whole of Europe (especially Germany and France) moans from uncontrolled invasion of black migrants who set their own rules and do not want to work and nonetheless, the enemy number 1 for you - it's Russian. And those same Americans continue to secretly support the extremist Islamists and bomb their homeland at the same time, paying them unemployment benefits, and otherwise indulging lawlessness blacks, as soon as he will utter the phrase "This is racism!" and at the same time accusing the police that they are not loyal to the black criminals, thus increasingly contributing to the spread prolific black locusts, not only in the United States, but also around the world, and the enemies in any case - Russian. Well-well. Now the United States and Europe began to openly develop and maintain more and fascism in Ukraine. Even Angela Merkel could not utter a word to openly to call a spade a spade events in Ukraine. Nobody could, except Russia. Can call me a racist, which is engaged in anti-American, anti-European and anti-fascist propaganda here. Will Robinson wrote:That's racist!
