tax return

Post by CUDA »

WELP filed my 2014 return.
made the same amount as I did last year.
Same amount of deductions that I had last year.
$2000 less in return

Haven't even gotten all our "W" paperwork from the banks to file yet. Probably won't get all of them until the end of February either. They used to show up in the mail, and even on line, by the end of January, but due to lobbying in Congress by the big banks and securities organizations, they got extensions to give themselves more time to send out or post that paperwork, which f**ks over the poor taxpayer who actually has to get their taxes paid by April. My hubby also wants the paper IRS publications and forms, which we also have yet to receive after ordering them online 2 weeks ago, which by the way the IRS used to send us regularly. Judging from all the cuts to the IRS courtesy of damned Republicans, we'll never get them because they're so understaffed at the IRS. They can't even answer the phone now. Why does my hubby want the paper publications? Because we don't qualify for free e-file and since we have to mail in paper forms in order to not have to pay a stupid filing fee, which in and by itself is highway robbery, he wants at least the publications and instructions, which are easier for him to flip through, read and take notes with a pencil. Remember those?

Who's losing out with all this IRS budget cutting? Middle class taxpayers, like you and me CUDA. You can bet the wealthy and dishonest tax dodgers are going to come out way ahead this year. Since the IRS is so understaffed and budget restrained, thanks to the House Republicans, each dollar NOT spent for tax enforcement means six dollars LOST in revenue, which will further aggravate our already high national debt.

So CUDA, I have no sympathy for your petty gripe.

what TC said, re: the middle class. I have more tax-deductable contribs than eligible income this year(did so knowingly, for personal reasons and the fact I could afford to). With me responsible for the 3 grandkids, I'll get 3,000 back, plus the pre-paid quarterlies! I have a great accountant!

TC, why don't you go here and just print the forms up or save the pdf publications?:

The forms are no problem, there aren't pages and pages of them, but the instruction booklets would cost me a whole lot more out of my pocket than the government would pay for it in bulk printing. That's what gripes me about Republican budget cutting. More and more IRS government services that used to be paid for out of the IRS budget are now being saddled onto the individual taxpayer. Same with this e-file. If a person has a complicated tax return, that taxpayer has to PAY to send it to the IRS electronically. It should be free since it makes life for the IRS much simpler with less paperwork.

First off you can open the pdf booklets and save them as a pdf. Second, just mail in your printed forms instead of sending them electronically. Thats what I do for both my business and personal returns.

Still got to pay 10 cents a page to print them out, if a person wants to scribble their own notes on them that is.
