What…you guys think when the government provides disaster relief people don’t get paid doing it.

A corp. like Wal-Mart has the infrastructure to provide a lot of relief at the drop of a dime…all charged to the same place the government does. (you and me)

Or we can just pretend the government is an altruistic entity…lolol

Personally I believe this kind of debate is healthy, because it could possibly lead to more cooperation between the private sector and governmental agencies, which is the way I believe things should work anyway. (let each do what they are best at)

Wal-mart being in charge of disaster "relief" brings to mind the plot of WALL-E. Though I'm highly amused that Stossel thinks a corporation that can't even pay its employees a living wage is in the business of helping anyone outside of the Walton family.

hell, they don't provide preventive healthcare insurance to half of their employees. Just the folks I wish to be there planning for a disaster response.
And, yes, Spidey, I agree such discourse is important. Mainly, to get people thinking about all the things government can and does do for them of great benefit.

I don't know how anyone can believe you slick because your opening this thread was to join in the misrepresentation of someone's contribution to the 'discourse'.
The broadcast that you were so vehemently opposed to, although you never watched it, was showing how much gets done immediately by private entities in the wake of a disaster. They never advocated ending government's role in the process. They wanted a better, more efficient response that incorporates a mixture of those capable and willing.

What you have shown us you are interested in is shouting down any discussion that isn't from a liberal democrat approved perspective.
Discourse generally implies many voices. You had a big knee jerk need to filter out the ones you don't approve of. That isn't a conversation.

As I said in my first post, if you think Stossel didn't contribute something worth considering you are nuts. Ss it turns out you don't even know what he presented as a contribution to the discourse...you just told us you did and then set out to control the conversation using dishonesty and belligerence.
