Folks of a certain political type over here are beating their chests over Obama's refusal to meet with 'Bibi' when he's coming to give his self-serving speech to the ideologues in Congress. The stated reason is that Obama doesn't wish to involve himself in campaign publicity for YOUR elections, and I think that is sound. Any feel, from one who is a citizen there, as to how the elections are shaping up?

It looks like it will be a very close split between Bibi's bloc and a partnership of centre left bloc of Livni and Herzog. Israeli politics is comprised of many small parties, each with their own agenda...which is one big headache to be honest.

As to the Congress speech, i think most of the country is embarrassed by the whole affair, it's certainly provided the satirical media over here with loads of ammunition.

Seriously, the issue is that the US shouldn't be playing electoral politics in Israels domestic elections, that may well backfire on 'Bibi'(what I've read of the Israeli press sort of is in line with Flabby's remarks), and now you will end up with Israeli leadership that won't wish to work with the US Congress.
