Where are those "moderate" muslims?

Post by Nightshade »

In a recent survey conducted by AlJazeera.net, the website for the Al Jazeera Arabic television channel, respondents overwhelmingly support the Islamic State terrorist group, with 81% voting “YES” on whether they approved of ISIS’s conquests in the region.

The poll, which asked in Arabic, “Do you support the organizing victories of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS)?” has generated over 38,000 responses thus far, with only 19% of respondents voting “NO” to supporting ISIS.

This isn't a legitimate web poll. It needs "Ron Paul" as an option. ;)

Actually, I'm going somewhere with that. Back during the 2008 campaign, or maybe even 2004, Ron Paul supporters had a huge "get out the vote" internet presence compared to other candidates, such that he tended to win online polls by a landslide. One website I read at the time put "Ron Paul" as a joke answer to literally every poll they did, regardless of the subject, just to make fun of the phenomenon. And Ron Paul won a fairly large number of those polls.

Point being, internet polls shouldn't be taken either as representative or non-representative. They're simply useless.

On the subject of extremism, here's something more representative:

When it comes to social values, these are a bit worrying though:

Pretty poor use of the word “normal” if you ask me.

What the hell is “normal” shouldn’t modern be the operative there?

oh, those scary, scary Muslims.

Of course what scares folks(and yes, TB, you are one of those 'folks') is sheer ignorance and cowardice.

250 armed racists and nobody was shot!

Heh, but seriously, that ★■◆● is pretty disgraceful, sounds like something you would expect to happen in Europe…without the guns of course.

I think the response was both courageous and cool.
