Even though I don't particularly like Hillary, Kevin McCarthy basically admitted on Fox News that the whole Republican House Benghazi Committee was nothing but a political smear campaign, the sole purpose of which was to ruin Hillary Clinton before the 2016 election. So watch out Hillary haters. She might just get a bump up in the polls due to sympathy, if she decides to capitalize on it.

well, he essentially admitted that the investigation has yielded nothing of substance BEYOND affecting Hillary's poll numbers. It isn't like they've discovered a damned thing about the incident that wasn't known for a while now.

I actually found out one of my friends plans to vote for Mrs. Clinton, which was a surprise. I didn't have time to ask her the details, but our smalltalk consisted of me asking "so, you like any of the candidates?" with her reply of "Ha! No. But I'll take Hillary over the rest of the lot." My friend is a self-described moderate Democrat, which leads me to wonder if there are many more out there, silently supporting. Seems like a fair chunk of my left-leaning friends are backing Sanders and my right-leaning friends are depressed and not supporting anyone, except for one who backs Trump (and who, coincidentally and disappointingly, went on a ridiculous anti-Islam rant the other day which led to a bunch of us attempting to calm him down, collectively).

I've been too busy lately to watch debates and haven't been doing my homework on what has turned out to be a rather wide field of viable candidates. Hopefully over the holidays I'll get some time in.

It really depends on whether Hillary will play the victim role using McCarthy's "admission" as prima fascia proof of a Republican conspiracy and then capitalize on it with Democratic voters to raise her poll numbers.

More fallout from McCarthy's slip of the tongue. Kind of goes along with slick's other post about the other Republican tour de farce, the investigation of PP. Almost makes one wonder if the Republican's are deliberately trying to get Hillary elected as president, in a backhanded sort of way.

Wow, the 'ace prosecuter' came off looking like a petulant little boy, and his fellow Repulbicans like a bunch of scripted hacks jumping to conclusions before even asking for testimony. They came completely off the rails today.

Yep. There's that new wrinkle. You'd have thought since Blumenthal, nicknamed "Sid Vicious" by conservatives, ran Hillary's failed 2008 campaign, she would have discounted him for any further advice, especially after the White House nixed Hillary's request to hire him in an official capacity. So instead, she took advice from him as a private citizen. Not exactly kosher looking for conducting state business, or for her own decision making abilities.

except, the committee had already deposed Blumenthal, and there is no proof that his input was even SOLICITED. Further, for some odd reason, Gowdy doesn't wish to release the transcript of that deposition in full to the public.That whole thing was a joke yesterday, and the world seems to know it today. Even the conservative press is groping for positives. I was shocked, last night, when I came into the family room after dealing with issues noted in my other thread. I found my nephew, at the house to assist me in the coming days, watching Clinton giving testimony. I asked, 'what, are they replaying the whole thing?'. He goes, 'no, she's still stuck there....it's like they want to keep her long enough to slip up like a bad detective interrogation, or something'. My nephew, who NEVER, EVER gave the first thought to supporting her, came away thinking that she showed the sort of grit, determination and intelligence to be a good President. If he is typical of younger male voters, that hearing was an electoral disaster.
