Re: ..."the attacks will be spectacular"
So the skeletons are starting to crawl out of the Bush closet. And people call me "obsessed" whenever I gripe about the crimes of Bush/Cheney.

Re: ..."the attacks will be spectacular"
It was too soon Vander. The 9/11 psychosis was still too strong for anyone to believe that our president and his cronies royally effed up. He stood there on the site of the ruined World Trade Center and stumped for blood and vengeance, which is what Americans wanted to hear and what Bush wanted to get more power for himself.

Nice spin but what would you have Bush do? Round up all the Muslims here? Bomb the piss out of Afghanistan? Just what actionable intelligence was presented other than a vague feeling of impending doom. Bill Clinton tried in Somalia and then lobbing a few missiles in the middle of some barren Afghanistan desert and we can see how well that worked. So what would you have had Bush do if it was your decision?callmeslick wrote:http://www.rawstory.com/2015/11/ex-cia- ... lpability/

planning for a threat adequately would have been a start, Woody.

And how do you plan for something when you don't know when, where or what? Start by suspending civil liberties? That would fly real well.

Re: ..."the attacks will be spectacular"
lessee......when the presentations start getting specific, in July, about people using airliners as weapons, about Saudi nationals training for attacks here and the like, I'd have thought a more pro-active approach at the airports or in air defense policy might have been a start. Also, maybe some FBI investigation into pilot training programs with aggressive followup? They did, according to the CIA guys, NOTHING. Moreover, they failed to plan earlier because they didn't want a paper trail to blame them later? Yeesh. Keep on apologizing and making a big freaking deal about Hillary/Bengazi etc, woody. You sound like an absolute denier of reality, which, I suppose, is the only reason anyone could have to make a big deal out of Hillary.

Yea, and what has Obama done about the cyber threat to our power grid.

Re: ..."the attacks will be spectacular"
In Vanders thread I talked about Jamie Gorlick and "The Wall". I suggest you read it as all those sources you list weren't allowed to talk to one another for fear about big brother. But og course you want to continue to obfuscate as you are ignorant about what happened or just plain feel a need to cloud the issue to make your side look good.callmeslick wrote:lessee......when the presentations start getting specific, in July, about people using airliners as weapons, about Saudi nationals training for attacks here and the like, I'd have thought a more pro-active approach at the airports or in air defense policy might have been a start. Re: ..."the attacks will be spectacular"
Actually, one of his dastardly "executive orders" addresses this topic:Spidey wrote:Yea, and what has Obama done about the cyber threat to our power grid.
(rhetorical, because the answer is nothing)
Executive Order -- Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity (Feb. 12, 2013)
It requires the private sector involved with critical infrastructure to share relevant inforamtion with the "Classified National Security Information Program for State, Local, Tribal, and Private Sector Entities". It also requires updating policies relating to the National Institute of Standards and Technology — and a bunch of other things. It's actually pretty comprehensive.
Re: ..."the attacks will be spectacular"
How about, for starters, showing the slightest bit of contrition after the fact. If I recall, that was my motivation behind that old thread. A simple "we didn't do enough" or "Al Qaida wasn't our focus" would've sufficed. But no, it was all "we couldn't have known" and "we did everything we could" and "there was nothing actionable."woodchip wrote:Nice spin but what would you have Bush do?
And it really is such a modest point. It's not assigning blame for 9/11 on the Bush administration. The law enforcement/intelligence/bureaucracy failures pre-9/11 were a very large sandwich, but the Bush administration refused to take a bite like everyone else. Their inability to ever admit error or lapse was and still is galling.
Re: ..."the attacks will be spectacular"
Yes vision, I know all about that, and even the experiments the government did proving the vulnerabilities…but as of now, nothing has been done about the actual problem.

Well if you have some facts to disprove the job done by Ted Koppel let’s hear them, because he did a major report on this subject, and even wrote a book.
So I’m all ears.
So I’m all ears.
Re: ..."the attacks will be spectacular"
Can you be a little more clear as to what you would expect to see? The Office of Infrastructure Protection has a fairly detailed set of objectives. Much of this involves voluntary support of the private sector. Do you want the government to overpower the private sector like the TSA did with airlines? I'm just not sure what you want.Spidey wrote:but as of now, nothing has been done about the actual problem.

Yes, I would like to see mandatory systems put in place.
