Split from "Greeted with..."

Interesting quote. It could apply to the idea of 'abortion' as a human 'right.' Who made such a concept- the destroying of NOT JUST a potential life- but an actual life in most cases- a reproductive 'decision' rather than murder? Margaret Sanger? The Eugenicist? Founder of Planned Parenthood?

It's nothing but a rationalization for destroying human life- but that's a different thread altogether.

There are plenty of people that are against abortion- but it is by no means an 'ideology.' It's a basic revulsion shared by many people that see it for the atrocity it is. This revulsion is shared by Catholics, other Christians and yes- even atheists like me.

We may all differ on when human life 'begins' but the general rational thought is the same. Human life is ended merely for the convenience of the potential parent(s.)

Rational people also know they can't act against the concept of abortion with violence or terror- nor is it written in any "holy books" that 'abortionists must die.'

Only irrational and psychopathic individuals take their twisted vision of 'vigilante justice' to heart and ACT on it.

Gee, I dunno. Maybe people don't like being told what to do with their own bodies?
people that see it for the atrocity it is
They were told it was an atrocity based on someone elses' ideology.

I think it's time we actively start correcting people who use the word "convenience" in reference to abortion. The idea that abortions are simply a matter of convenience is word-play crafted by the pro-life camp. The intent is to paint those who choose abortion as frivolous, carefree, and self-centered. Nothing could be further from the truth. The decision to abort a child is one of the biggest decisions a person will make in their life and it is anything but convenient.

It's Ok to find abortion repulsive. It's not Ok to be suckered in by simple-minded ideological rhetoric. Abortion is not a matter of convenience, it is a product of a sensible, responsible, and difficult thought process.

I have no idea why discharging a blob of cells would cause such concern.

Must be a disconnect between the rhetoric and the reality.

That's quite an absolute statement. What makes you think that is always the case?

The idea that it's "always a difficult decision" is as flawed as the idea that it's "always for convenience". The reasons for abortion are as varied as the people who get them.

[ I've personally known a number of people who have gotten them, and heard their stories. In some cases, there was a legitimate medical need. In most cases, it was some variation of "I'm not ready" or "it's too expensive". And in at least one case, it was "I think it would ruin my perfect body." ]

In my opinion, abortion is always, under all circumstances, this is the right and choice only of the woman.

Add: By the way, just as and consent to the terminally ill to euthanasia.

The title of the topic implies not only the discussion of abortion, isn't it?
But you are right, if the problem of euthanasia will cause increased interest may be necessary to create a separate topic.

For me, it's close, because I knew the doomed people who tried to commit suicide terrible ways because euthanasia is banned in Russia and people here do not have the opportunity to die in a civilized way even if they want.

Where did I say that was always the case? Please show me. The conclusion of that paper even supports my statement. None of the reasons given in that study are characteristic of frivolity. I'm sorry you know a person who got an abortion because of vanity, but those are exceptions, not the norm.

Yeah, wow. Based on that statement I'm guessing that TB doesn't have much experience with sex, which explains a lot of things about his views on abortion.

Right...just because I've been responsible and am fully aware of the consequences.
