um, yes it is. Clearly, you missed some stuff in that article. They exercise fiscal restraint, and the whole point of the article is to say that despite oil funds on hand, they run the system so well as to not need to dip into them. Who do YOU suggest is paying the bills?

So these capitalist countries are using socialism in their names to avoid the truth that they are actually capitalist democracies with a welfare state, and not actually socialist.

And I won’t mention the term you should actually be using is … “social democracy” not democrat socialism. To qualify as “democratic socialism” you must have a socialist economic system, not a capitalist economic system.

that's my point. One can have both. That is exactly what some have been saying, and moreover, the kinds of models we should, as a nation be considering, if indeed the long-term economic health of the nation is a priority along with social safety nets and such.

yes, it gets garbled, especially in current times. For instance, Sanders is a pure social democrat, not a 'democratic socialist'.
