dammit. It was a missive by Bobby Jindal babbling about how Obama's personality and the trends in American politics dictated the rise of a stupid loudmouth candidate. It was a pretty funny read. Again, dammit.

Well you could of copy and pasted the relevant parts into the OP. Alas that was too much work and we all know how lazy liberals are.

Jindal’s reasoning is dead wrong, but so is the reasoning that Republicans created Trump, simply proven out by the fact that most Republicans don’t want the man to be president.

Trump has risen out of much deeper problems, that don’t wear party affiliations.

But, I do get a good laugh from the hyper partisan commentary you provide. (on both sides)

I sort of agree with most of what you say, Spidey, but where the Republicans come in is that they nurtured a political base within their coalition which was actively fostering the mindset that embraces what you call 'deeper problems'. Had the Dems tried to play to that same crowd for the past two decades, assuming, as the GOP did, that they would remain limited in number and participation, this would be seen as a Democrat issue. So, no, I don't think the many good Republicans that were extant in 1990 or so sat down and said,"let's see if we can create a party that thrives on fear, and embraces fascistic approaches to deal with racism, xenophobia, economic disenfrancisement, globalisation, and the rise of terrorism as the modern warfare paradigm". They just figured if they tolerated those folks, but kept them quiet and away from real power, they'd be winning a few more elections. While they weren't paying attention(and fueled by two straight Presidential election defeats), the lunatics are taking over the asylum. It's all a fascinating study in Political Science, and the last chapters are far away from written.

You conveniently forget the GOP took and kept control of congress for the last to cycles, a blood bath to the Dems that hasn't been seen for decades. What you fail to understand is the GOP didn't give what the voters wanted...tighter borders, a repeal of Obama care, a better economy. Now the GOP seems to think it can forsake the white male voter...for what? The GOP keeps saying it has to broaden it's base and yet when they finally have a guy that is doing just that, they want to ignore him and actively try to defeat him. The GOP elite has too long ignored those who put them in power and now those same voters are going to pay back the failed trust. Too bad the Dem voters haven't woken up to the same failed trust but then what can you expect when they have such a piss poor selection to choose from. What the Dem voters will do is simple stay home as can be seen in the primaries where the Rep. voters are massively showing up in numbers while the Dem voters are dwindling. Keep dreaming and posting what you think is insider knowledge.
As to fear the Dems are controlled by racism like you see from the top on down, failed foreign policy that started way back when Obama failed to give any encouragement to the Iranian student uprising and yet stuck his nose into the Egyption uprising by telling Mubarak he should resign, down to killing Libya's Muammar Gaddafi ( Hillarys line, "We came, We saw, We killed). Yet people like you try to tell us how smart and great Obama is when he is nothing but a third rated leader who hasn't a clue as to what leadership is. After 8 years the people have said screw this and latched onto Trump as he is the most anti-Obama candidate. With no one to inspire the Dems, like good little lazy libs, they'll stay at home come Nov., smoke a little dope and then wonder how a guy like Trump won the election.

Maybe you need to start a third party woodchip if you think the GOP is failing you. A lot of conservatives and even conservative dems are coming out of the woodwork to vote for Trump for the first time in years. The GOP has done absolutely nothing constructive for 8 years, other than be obstructionist, unprincipled jerks. The Dems need to wake up as well and get out of their Wall Street coddling, stodgy, insular party ways, because Hillary is just another one of those bland, unprincipled, out of touch, conceited party insiders that's not going to excite the liberal base enough to get off their butts to vote and beat Trump in the general election. Even I can't stomach the will to vote for the b***h.

And you TC, understand much more what is going on than slick does, even with all his supposed high level contacts. I'm sure he will be as surprised as the French aristocracy was just prior to the peasants revolting.

I may understand, but there's no way in hell I'm going to vote for Trump. That may guarantee a win for Trump, but I'm not going to prostrate myself to a modern Hitler-in-sheep's-clothing. I'm not voting for Hillary either. The liberals need a candidate they can get excited about, who wants to buck the system like Trump and actually carry through with their promises, and it's definitely not Hillary and it definitely wasn't Obama. Sanders comes close, but he's just as pie-in-the-sky with his ideas as Trump is and since knee-jerk Americans freak out when anyone mentions "socialist", he's not going to win. They would both shake up the system that's for sure, but neither of their wild ideas would come to fruition and few of their promises could ever be delivered. If Trump becomes president, you, and many of your like-minded cohorts will eventually be as disappointed with Trump as most liberals were with Obama. Our country is headed for the toilet.

Uncle Bernie is keying in on the fear and loathing of rich people, so how is he any better than Trump, look at history…socialist’s always start with scapegoating the wealthy.

And the wealthy are always scapegoating those lazy poor people. If they'd just work instead of lazing around like dirty slugs, things would be peachy. But there's always that human penchant to take more than you deserve, because some people invariably believe that they deserve more, no matter what their wealth level or station in life.

http://www.nytimes.com/1995/10/22/magaz ... serve.html

Nowhere does either party talk about what's best for our society, not just the rich or the poor. They're always demagogue going on, pitting one stance or position against the other. That's why Trump and Sanders would ultimately fail. My first inclination is a vote for someone who would go after those greedy wealthy. After all, they've been taking and taking ever since Reagan. But that's just a gut reaction, not a solution. Ultimately, we may be a bunch of individuals with various backgrounds and education levels, but we are all part of a society and that society is what makes us a nation and when that society goes to war with itself, we're no longer a nation.
Cardinal Roger Mahony wrote:"Any society, any nation, is judged on the basis of how it treats its weakest members ; the last, the least, the littlest."

And someday you will wake up and realize that greed is a human failing, not just something that afflicts the rich.

..............

And BTW, it’s not only the rich that say the poor are lazy, I have heard that idea from plenty of people who are not rich, and at least one of them was a liberal.

So once again the rich get singled out and accused of something that is common to a lot more people than just the rich.

Proving my point once again.
