He made his bed...

Post by Tunnelcat »

...and now Mr. Trump can sleep in it. "I certainly don’t incite violence" said Trump. Well, he's been wishing out loud for his supporters to punch protesters for weeks, including reporters. A few have done it. Even some of Trump's campaign staffers have had charges brought against them for assault on reporters. A few protesters have punched back as well. What does Mr. Trump expect? A love fest? Someone was going to take exception and it turns out a LOT of people on campus took exception to Trump's planned "spectacle" in Chicago. Even Ted Cruz came out and blamed Trump for the debacle tonight.

Michael Beschloss, harking back to the fractious and contentious mood during the Nixon/Wallace campaign said something along this line tonight. A party that can't unite itself certainly cannot unite the country. Nixon and Wallace both ran a "law and order" campaign when people angrily protested at their campaign events. That's an old and tired divisive Republican tactic that will never, ever unite, only divide. Trump may win the nomination, but probably not the election. If he does, he'll probably end up like Nixon, impeached or resigning from office.

here we have the Standard's reporting from late February.

he doesn't incite violence? Really? He is suggesting violence being used to surpress First Amendment rights. Astounding, disturbing and utterly disqualifying for the office he seeks.

People are getting really ticked off at Trump. It's a good thing he's got Secret Service protection, because his rhetoric is starting to make people want to get up and personal in a not-so-nice way, NOT that I approve of fisticuffs. It just shows you what his campaign has devolved into. And what bravado. He could take anyone on by himself..... Suuuure.

Right and did Obama say anything against the SEIU thugs that knocked black people to the ground at Tea Party rallies when he was running for office? At least Trump is man enough to say such things instead of hiding behind supporters and not pretending he didn't know. Here's a though, why don't your protester friends have their own anti-Trump rallies instead of barging in where they are not wanted.

"man enough?"

this about the guy who runs back to NYC and primps every night?
I sorely wish H L Mencken were alive to witness this. He'd no doubt remind Woody and others of his definition of a demagogue: "....is a man
who says things he knows are not true to people he knows are idiots"

So you are saying Obama and Hillary are demagogues. Interesting.

I don't think so. Sorry, the Orange Haired Baboon is the only one in that category, due to the description of the followers.
I note that the ever-so-brave Mr Trump says he will urge his supporters to disrupt Sanders rallies. The contrast will be amusing and telling, I suspect.

Nope. Hillary is a plain old Washington insider who gives favors for money, flip flops when convenient and doesn't understand the meaning of hypocrisy. Obama is nothing but a Benedict Arnold to every liberal out there.
