Seems like it's been going on for years that key note speakers have been predominately liberal and speaking to quiescent audiences. Welp, things have changed:

Non-Latino graduates and their guests at California State University, Fullerton’s College of Communications booed the Univision anchor and yelled at her to leave the stage, according to a student who was at the ceremony.

In social media posts following the incident, the Peabody Award-winning journalist said she didn’t notice the uproar and chalked it up to "sad racism on the rise."

One person, whose handle is @JakeHolzschuh, responded on Twitter, “We were upset that your address was aimed at one ethnicity instead of the whole class. Had nothing to do with racism.”

As this may resonate I'm wondering if colleges will now take a harder look at who they invite to speak. Bill Clinton speaking at Wellesley College anyone?

I just watched the movie made about George Wallace. He went up to Harvard to make one of his racially-charged hate stump speeches when he was running for president. He was booed and shouted off the stage and almost beat up when he tried to leave the venue. His views on blacks were not appreciated by the northern and more liberal youth.

So the non-Latino members of the audience booed the Univision anchor. Don't you mean the "white" members instead of the non-Latino members? That says more about Trump's hateful race-baiting speeches, the perpetuation of our country's near constant white privilege issue and the continuing sad state of race and immigrant relations than anything else, even in a country made up of immigrants from all over the world.

by the way, the proper term for these are 'commencement speakers', whereas 'keynote speakers' are the feature of conferences and conventions.

She got booed because she started speaking spanish exclusively. the 'reality sunk in' part was from the person reporting it becuase she didn't want any racial aggression creeping into the graduation ceremony. But the distorted story you grabbed your initial quote from paints a different picture.

My point is this: You're showing exactly why the echo chamber is so problematic. you've been detached from reality. No surprise there, either.
