The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads, "No person shall ... be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law...." Senator Joe Manchin isn't sure the belief that one is innocent until proven guilty is always such a good idea. On Thursday, The West Virginia Democrat said the principle of due process is "killing us."

in which, he stands apart from almost all Dems, and firmly with many right-wingers. The argument is that Due Process hampers us in fighting terror. Most of us feel that giving up the Constitutional Freedoms can be seen as surrender to extremists.

But, I bet that guy is in total agreement with due process if it is taken away from someone in one of his revered voting blocks.
