How to escape from the energy relay area in Alien Territory?

Alien Territory is a Descent 3 single-player mission by Shoku.
I'm stuck at the part with the energy transfer room and the generator switches. I can't figure out what to do. There doesn't seem to be any indication of which setting the switches are supposed to be in and I don't have the time to try all 3^4 = 81 possible combinations.
I tried emailing Shoku but the email address in the readme doesn't work anymore.
Help!

Huh. I remember figuring it out but not how.
Will have to replay the level.

If it helps, there are only 4^3=64 combinations, but I can't figure them out either.

Edit: My math was off, there are 81 combinations. I also theorized a way to disable the relay, but have no idea how to go about it: Overload the relay.

And my theory wasn't even close. If you open your automap, you will notice a hexagonal area around each relay terminal. Avoiding those, work your way to the center of the room where there will be 2 switches. Shoot both to proceed.
