what is especially ironic is that, while the Navy is well aware of the issues, the Virginia Senate consistently blocks any significant monies for either research or planning for sea-level change, nor any mention of climate change, global warming or other annoying buzzwords in public documents. I'd love to hear Woody or NS apply the logic around the use of the words Islamic Terrorism to this avoidance........

Let's just start with the part of the article(which you clearly didn't read) that points out that the Submarine Service facility is unable to operate several days a year at present due to high tides threatening electrical service equipment. How ready are we if when there is a crisis, we have to wait to service an active duty submarine because of water level at the service docks?

I guess you forget how the Dutch handle land being lower than sea level. As to not discussing climate change, is that any worse than your side demanding criminal laws be established against climate change deniers? Out of curiosity, when is the last time we had a scientific symposium where scientist on both sides meet and discuss climate change?

of course, I noticed it. Owning property down that way, I'm aware of the geography. It's the impact of the unplanned-for, or in the case of the right, the denied reality of climatic changes that ADDS TO THE PROBLEM. Can you grasp that? Or, is it just a wee bit too inconvenient for you to move your ideological blinders and try. I ask again, what is the justification for the VA GOP to reject merely STUDY of climate change, or even STUDY of how to possibly cope with it. Because, while the Navy is hard at work, the Obama admin not being comprised of flat-earth, science-skeptic clowns, the Commonwealth of VA is doing nothing and the whole area from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach is at risk. No one, myself included, is suggesting spending vast amounts trying to save Tangier or Watts Islands, and we're all grateful now that the decision was long made not to develop the barrier islands on the seaside, but why wouldn't you(were you truly representing the citizenry and their longterm interests)attempt to address potential dangers for around 3 million residents of the Western Shore?
