Voter ID laws are in reality a scheme being used by Republicans to suppress a particular voter base that they know won't vote for their candidates, because Republicans can't win fairly any other way.

actually, they have the designed intent, in NC at least, of supressing THREE kinds of voters:
1.Blacks, especially older ones
2. Hispanics
3. College students(by moving polling stations off campuses)

the intent was clear, in all three cases, to the point where the courts could not let them stand.
