When I go to click on that link, it right away says that it does not exist. :(

Gonna try again at home, mayby SBC is being gay.

This also shows how large a multiplayer-only Descent 3 distribution would be. Personally, I think they ought to release such a version for free - it's not like Descent 3 is raking in huge sums of cash, and it might be a good way to reinvigorate a dying license.

I'm offended alright. I'm offended you're not using a multi-torrent program like ABC, G3Torrent, Azereus...

Interplay Is Gone

Post by Garfield3d »

Actually, now that Interplay is dead, what happens to Descent and its other intellectual property? What is the process for selling, delegating it to other groups, or trying to keep a lid on all their rights?

That has already been answered in another topic. But it's 2am here, and I'm tired, so I'll expect someone else to tell you :P

Let me take a crack at it :P. Right now, Interplay still exists as a company, although they are in serious debt and are having trouble paying their employees. To get some quick cash, Interplay may consider selling the rights to some of their franchises, such as Descent, to the highest bidder. Were Interplay to go completely under, however, all of their assets, including the rights to games, would be sold off. At present, neither option has occurred, so the situation remains the same. We also have to consider that Parallax Software, which really exists in name alone, still holds the right to actually make the next Descent game.

Isnt this really considered warez? And as such, shouldnt this topic be closed and deleted just as my posts were in a certain Enterprise thread?

It should be, but then, we have a few mods who've decided that warez and/or porn are no longer against board policy, at least when it suits them.

I think if you're going to put it up, you should strip it more. the d3.hog file should have everything that's not multi removed.

The original multiplayer levels should be removed (from within the hog) and whatever other single player missions are hidden in there.

Some textures should be removed. The Tank, Feeni, and BP should be removed.

It should be 1.4 patched and cracked exe.

-------------------------
It will be much smaller
It will be more of a 'demo', with more incentive to buy, since key components will be missing (Like, the other two ships)
