Hillary is just as much of a tax dodger as Trump is.
Well this is a little awkward. With the leaked 1995 Trump tax returns 'scandal' focused on the billionaire's yuuge "net operating loss" and how it might have 'legally' enabled him to pay no taxes for years, we now discover none other than Hillary Rodham Clinton utilized a $700,000 "loss" to avoid paying some taxes in 2015.
The Clinton Campaign was quick to jump on the leaked Trump tax filing with Robby Mook tweeting...
Trump "apparently got to avoid paying taxes for nearly two decades—while tens of millions of working families paid theirs." pic.twitter.com/g62jB9fKr5
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) October 2, 2016
And Hillary following up, adding Trump "apparently got to avoid paying taxes for nearly two decades—while tens of millions of working families paid theirs."
However, a look back at Hillary Clinton's tax returns from 2015 (here), proudly displayed by the campaign proving she has nothing to hide - shows something awkward on page 17...
...and big liberal media dodges taxes too...
Finally, as we noted previously, the NYT (New York Times) itself is also perfectly happy to take advantage of the US tax to minimize the amount of money it pays to the government: in 2014 the company got a tax refund of $3.6 million despite having a $29.9 million pretax profit, an effective negative tax rate for 2014, which it explained was favorably affected by approximately $21.1 million for the reversal of reserves for uncertain tax positions due to the lapse of applicable statutes of limitations.
My understanding of capital gains at least according to my own investment account is that one pays no taxes on the earnings if you don't touch the money. So if you earn $700,000 in investment returns and then reinvest the entire sum, you get a couple lines which look exactly like that.
I think something slick has been commenting on fairly frequently is how our economic and regulatory landscape is (often unfairly) slanted in favor of investors over the working class. A good example of it right there, which of course wouldn't be a problem at all if the majority of the working class wasn't living paycheck to paycheck and could get in on that tax free investment return as well. That is literally the only barrier to entry on that, you have to be able to put money away in investments.
Personally, I don't think the amount of tax a candidate pays is the important part of releasing their tax return. (with the caveat that they were legal) These people aren't using Turbo Tax, they're using high priced professionals to minimize their tax burden. The important part, I think, is finding out the financial relationships the candidate has.
the informative part about the 1995 Tax Return from Trump isn't that he qualifies for a cap gains abatement over time. That's the law, as noted by another above, and I've been trying to point the unfairness out for a bit now in the whole of the tax code. No, what I wonder about is how one loses close to a billion dollars DURING A BOOM CYCLE, and then claims to be a genius businessman. I mean, 900 million or so is kind of real money. Then, the greater issue is what shows up on the whole of the returns. Is the a great businessman, or a sham who has been pissing away a 200 million dollar family fortune for years with smoke, mirrors and fleecing a lot of folks?

Like I said. We have a choice. The conman or the criminal. (Though you could switch the monikers all day and it wouldn't matter. They're both horrible candidates for our country and the world for that matter.)

yes, but the con-man is proven so. The 'criminal' has never been found guilty of jay walking. You familiar with the term innocent until proven guilty? I might get real suspicious, as I do with Trump, based on provable data(tax returns, his own words, etc). I have yet to see you or anyone come CLOSE to illustrating one law she is guilty of that she hasn't been investigated and exonerated quite publicly from.

The fact you never ran a business is telling. From my own personal experience what Trump did was simple... front load a number of write offs, took one time depreciation's instead of amortizing over 15 years and delayed depositing some income until the next year. Of course to the gullables like you, it sounds fishy. Auto companies do it all the time.
And Trump never had 200m to start with.

back to front, yes he did. He inherited 220 million dollars in assets and cash from his father. I may not have run a business, but I'm an investor, and have taken the abatement for bad years. Like I said, nothing to it. I don't see where he claimed anything that comes CLOSE to suggesting front-loading debts. It looks like he got burned. We'd have to see the actual rest of the tax returns to get the whole narrative, I'd agree.

Is this the same class that doesn't bring up it is illegal to obtain someones tax returns without their permission? Just another example of how the loony left doesn't care about the law. And you want more of the same by electing Hillary.

every single candidate for President has shown, voluntarily, their tax returns, for 40 years. No one is suggesting stealing them from him. The ones that are available were made public via a lawsuit information gathering process. Quit making up things. It looks dumb.

The only thing dumb is thinking Trump gave his OK to publish and make public his 1995 tax return. Unless you can show that Trump did, then you remain a classic obfuscating liar.

as I recall, he was ORDERED to release two years, due to a legal dispute(him? A legal dispute?). Thus, they've already been made available. Someone circumvented the usual FOA delays, but how the NYT got them doesn't invalidate the relevance. Aren't the Trump troops hanging hopes that Assange has stolen something that helps them? Please, your outrage is hilarious.
