OK, Spidey, l've kind of overgeneralized here. Let me rephrase. Republicans don't like science IF it's BAD for business, or it goes AGAINST Christian religious beliefs. Anything GOOD for business is always great and wonderful. If that science doesn't do anything good or bad for business, then meh, who cares, no funding. However, anything that's great for the military is paramount above all else.

Say what? Climate change? It's caused by trees and is bad for the energy industry. Deny it and keep right on polluting the air and water with carbon emissions and coal dust residues until we poison ourselves and kill off those damn trees. Fracking polluting our ground water and causing earthquakes? The science is dead WRONG. Keep going for more oil and gas because it's good for business. Intelligent Design? BAH! Put it in science class because it's not religion, it's fact and it belongs there. Abortion? Causes birth defects and cancer, despite the science that proves that wrong. Evolution? It's against Jesus and can't work anyway because the Earth is only 6 to 9 thousand years old! At least according to the Republicans.
