So, the IRS is delaying the refund process this year, mainly in an effort to stem the early filing ID thieves filing e-forms to get refunds. This, sadly, messes up the finances of a lot of average taxpayers(no comment here upon the health of an economy where the average guy is so tight on funds they have to assume a tax refund in a given window). Thus, refund loans are skyrocketing, a true ripoff for anyone forced into them:

Happened in 2015 as well, so welcome to the new normal in the electronic age of tax filing. Thank God I file using old fashioned paper and snail mail, pay my estimated taxes quarterly and always apply any over-payments towards the next years taxes.
