What would it take?

Post by Tunnelcat »

I'm just curious. After all the grand ineptitude and the ridiculous stuff Trump has done during his nascent presidency, and the repeated failures to even get a small part of his agenda put through, plus a little of the turning-his-back-on-some-of-his-most-loyal-supporters issue, namely coal miners and SS disability recipients (link below), he still has a loyal base worshiping him like a God. So I'm asking this question of any Trump supporter here (at least the one or two that I know of), what would it take to make you turn your back on him, if anything? Nuke the world? Burn down your house? Poison your dog?

You mean they'd follow him into Hell? No rational thinking or attempt at self-preservation? From the letters I've been reading in our local paper, the Trump Brigade is still standing tall and resolute, even in the face of staggering ineptitude. However, I'm still waiting to hear from the king of all Trump supporters here, ol' woodchip, in order to validate your theory Ferno. However, I keep thinking (or wishing) that there MUST be something that Trump could or couldn't do that would make them finally lose faith in him. People can't be that delusional, can they?

I just read a line in a Star Trek Section 31 book that sums this up very well.

It would take Trump notably ruining the country worse than Obama did (and probably worse than Clinton could) or dragging us into a war with minimal to no possible benefit for America for me.

When the foreign policy comes home to roost, which will be in the form of trade losses that will most directly hurt the poor (meaning, the people who elected Trump in the first place), then perhaps they will turn on him. But many of them will likely not learn from the experience and continue to childishly blame and lash out at the rest of the world.

Trump has probably 30% that will never leave him. Nothing Trump will do will change that, because whatever he does can be played as sticking it to some hated group or another. Any failures can be blamed on some hated group or other.

Then you have another 10% that think he's ridiculous, but since he's mostly pushing batshit conservative policy, they're still in. They'll peel away as he's shown to be less and less effective at pushing the batshit, and the ridiculousness increases to the point where they can't take it anymore.

If you mean "blame the democrats/liberals for everything", then you've got it. All this will come from the very party that preaches "take personal responsibility". I'm still waiting to hear from woody though.

Here's what's going to happen - you'll either be waiting for a long time, or... He'll try and blame obama or someone else, like slick.

If you call throwing 10 trillion dollars at the problem saving the economy...be my guest. Wait till interest rates start rising and then tell me how it was saved. And if you think the economy has done wonders under Obama:
(CNSNews.com) - The United States has now gone a record 10 straight years without 3 percent growth in real Gross Domestic Product, according to data released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

get used to that GPD growth rate until you upgrade the automation, communication and other infrastructure. GDP is a straight correllation with rises in productivity(unless you vastly expand the workforce, which can give you a short term GDP bump). Note, upgrade does not mean all with private dollars in a global economy. Further, the next period of rapid GDP growth, under the tack we've gone on with the GOP will not benefit you a bit, unless your income derives from investment. It will be a golden age for profits, but not for wages, at all. Also, if you feel that 2 trillion(not 10, a made up number on your part) was an unfair price to pay, you haven't the first clue what a liquidity meltdown would have meant to the national economy, your personal finances or the stability and security of the nation as a whole.

a true liquidity freeze, which Obama saved the US from twice would have made both the speed of onset and profundity of effect of the Great Depression look trivial. Essentially the same lack of access to banking, but in modern times, virtually every transactional stage is linked to that banking system, and it's in real time.

If Trump did anything sane, we should all be very, very afraid that someone else behind the curtain was pulling his puppet strings.

Maybe a low-belt swing or a cutting remark about Trump, much like the same low-belt swings and cutting remarks he made about 'hillary-the-hag' and 'obama-the-socialist' will get him to answer.

Nope. If he hasn't commented by now, he ain't going to do it ever. He doesn't HAVE a response because I've finally figured out WHY he and every Trump supporter loves Trump no matter what crap comes out of his White House. Trump is making their ultimate wet dream come true, the total deconstruction of the U.S. government. So the more Trump screws up, the happier they are. At least have the courtesy to tell me if I'm wrong on this one woodchip.

One thing you forget - expect the unexpected. He will say something. The question now is - what will make him say something? What is his limit?

He likes to play games. So we play his little game. Because right now, I have this strong suspicion he's sitting there, fighting himself not to say anything.

Can you imagine the mushroom cloud produced by woodchip's head exploding if Hillary Clinton had fired the FBI director, and the FBI director said in congressional testimony that he thought he was fired because of what the FBI was investigating?

Funny how I could of asked the same thing about Obama (but didn't). What would of made you turn your back on Obama TC? Take your doctor away? Take your medical plan away? Promote a plan to arm the Mexican drug drug gangs so they could shoot our border agents?

except he didn't take those things away, the Insurers chose to and the law didn't address their right to. The description of F and F is hilarious, and he shut it DOWN, albeit too slowly for my taste. And, you are comparing this to flaunting the law daily with regards to bribery, foreign contacts, maybe even TREASON? The denial is strong, indeed.

I DID turn my back on Obama and for the very reason you stated, he lied when he said I could keep my insurance, multiple times I might add, after he claimed that the law wouldn't allow that to happen. His law also made it more expensive when he claimed it wouldn't, at least for me personally. He certainly did me no favors and that's why I believed that Hillary would continue to dish out more of the same crap if elected, which is why I didn't vote for her. I was also soured by AG Loretta Lynch's little private tête-à-tête with the Clintons during Hillary's campaign, something even Comey commented on during testimony his recent hearing. So I ask again, what would it take to make YOU turn your back on Trump?
