What codec did you use ? I get sound only..

Edit: DX50 -- well, I'd suggest to use an Indeo 5 based codec, else ppl will have to install DivX or such..

Edit2: Uhm -- that's too confusing for n00bs. The problem I see w/ watching top notch pilots is that they know the locations of their enemies not only by sight but also by sound and guessing. That makes the action on the screen very confusing to ppl that never saw D3. You should cut back on the banking a bit too..

Yeah I used DivX 5.1 I think most hardcore gamers (even of other games) have DivX, don't you?

And about the banking... the video is supposed to show what makes Descent 3 not like other games (and why they should try it). Also, it just happens to be how I fly.

Personally, I think that scaring people is better than leaving them unimpressed. =)

What you can't fathom is not impressing ;) And no, not every gamer has DivX, I'd to install it and I hate it too -- who knows what it does to my system.. :P

Edit: I edited out the "scaring ppl" on my prev post. Ppl aren't scared that easily ;)

Arbitar, it should open in windows media player if you have installed the DivX 5.1 codec. You can get DivX 5.1 here:

Suncho, one thing you may want to do is make a movie where noobies won't get vertigo. You did way to much spinning that it might turn ppl off.

Also, get the updated Pyro skins, they look so much better than the original.

heheheh makes me wanna play again
showcases the intensity of D3 very nicely

but yeah --- the banking is a little much
and maybe you should see the other guy explode at the end of the video?

edit: first time i see your way of flying from 1st person perspective. always had problems hitting you --- now i know why

Wow, even I got light-headed from watching that. It's a lot different flying than seeing how someone else flies :P. Good job, though. If people aren't scared off, they're sure to be impressed. Nice choice of D2 redbook music, too :D.

just putting in my $0.02 in:

First off great job Suncho in getting the word out more. One suggestion is that you created a topic on Descent3, perhaps you can start a thread with a title a little bit more generic and attractive like 'Wanna try an awesome PC game?' & at least put some nice resolution screen shots so they can see the great detail.

Secondly, how about making a video from a 3rd person view at first, then join in the fun. Show some spew action. Don't forget to expand into the other mods: Monsterball, CTF, Hoard, Entropy, Guardian, etc.

Henry, that would require editing, which is something I don't have any experience in yet. But if I have some time I'll see what I can do.

Hey suncho, just use byebyemonkey to get a chase view and record. Not exactly 3rd person experience, but at least you could tell which shots came from which ship (it's a little hard to tell with all the chaos in that level if you aren't an experienced D3er).

Need some mass driver... I'm sure all the groundpounder n00bs will look at those videos and be like "that guy's aim sucked. He barely ever connected."

If you really want to draw the groundpounders in...
1: Don't spin so much! I know it's apparantly how you fly, but it would be extremely hard for someone who's not used to the game to follow what's going on.
2: Don't take a vid of a modded level. It's better to show them what it's really like. Also, I think fury level 1 would be a better level to take a video of.
3: Fight more than one person. It's much cooler. Also you should show off the terrain features.

...just my $0.02

Yeah. I agree on the Mass Driver, Lothar. Liquid Fire, I agree about the mods. I didn't really want to do a modded level but Resination is just so pretty and it happens to be modded. =) I agree that The Core is a good idea and also that fighting more than one person is a good idea. I just have to figure out why my D3 keeps crashing, make it not do that, and find more than one person who's willing to do this with me.

EDIT: It's also hard to have good aim when you're playing against someone like Kufyit or when you're running at 30fps or when you know you're making a movie and you have to try to make it look good. ;)

good job Suncho.

Gotta a question: if we make the d3 demo available, can we record a match in the retail version and still be able to play it within the d3 demo version?

This way we can introduce the game by means of the demo and viewing actual examples of games played in multiplayer matches.

What do you think Suncho?

I doubt it. Demos barely even work when playing them back in the full version of the game.

Hey you guys! Our thread on Revolt Gaming was closed! Everyone private message the Syn to reopen it! I don't think it's fair that he closed it just so he could have the last word.

Wow, what a loser. Here's some "elitist" attitude: you wouldn't last a minute in a game of Abend 2 against a load of n00bs :P.

Hey Suncho, Syn closed that one, too because of how Hahn had opened that thread.

I suggest you open a new thread simply showing the positive aspects of D3, our community, what we would like to achieve, etc.

Please, leave out comparisons and any derogatory desc of other FPS games, etc.

Wow, I never knew you thought so highly of me, bubb! =D

The reason your great Suncho isn't performing as expected was because he had to play at 30 frames per second. Thanks for your concern! You're a true pal. =)
