So I wonder, what's going to happen with all these disenchanted walkaways from BOTH parties? You've got the Sanders contingent who hate the mainstream Dems and the anti-Trump contingent who hate the GOP sucking up to an idiot like Trump. Who will they vote for when it comes down to brass tacks? The Dems are already showing signs of blowing the next election by sticking with their old, stodgy party line people like Shumer and Pelosi, or worse, trotting out Bill and Hillary, tired old divisive mainliners that most of the younger Dems dislike and which Republicans absolutely LOATHE.

I am now convinced that the Republican Party must suffer repeated and devastating defeats beginning in November. It must pay a heavy price for its embrace of white nationalism and know-nothingism. Only if the GOP as it is currently constituted is burned to the ground will there be any chance to build a reasonable center-right party out of the ashes. But that will require undoing the work of decades, not just of the past two years.
Most "Never Trump" types usually say things were going wonderful until Trump came along, but Boot goes much further back into history for his indictment.
