I question how much healing there will be while the conservatives continue to willingly slide further down the slope. Facebook, twitter, etc are flooding with conspiracy theories and fascist propaganda. Conservatives don't listen to facts or reality they only make up their own. As one pundit observed "Americans live in two non-overlapping realities.". Unless we can stop the flood of toxic misinformation any efforts at reconciling are going to be futile.

When he first got elected there were legions of sniveling “not my president” whining babies and I was like: “Let him make some moves first before you freak out.”

Well, he tried this massive Muslim ban and his stupid followers got an American Government lesson on checks and balances and the SCOTUS checked him. At that point I still thought he was a blowhard but I still called him president because he won the election and I’m not some 18 year old college freshman that thinks a picket sign means jackdick. But I’ll tell you when I totally lost it and gave up and didn’t think it was funny anymore was when he offered his regarded opinion to the French fire fighters. Just shut up you ★■◆●ing complete idiot. Just shut up you colossal trust fund baby.

“Must act quickly!”

And the rest of the world who cares about historic landmarks are just sitting there going: “Ya think? They should act quickly? They should just drop a water tower from upon high in the middle of an enormous city and expect anything inside not to be destroyed? You voted for this person?”

And that was before the suggested suntanning the inside of your body to get rid of the kungflu. Such a complete embarrassment.

I do find it amusing how much the conservative stooges in the various agencies contort themselves to go along with his whims.

For instance the FCC proudly declared they were restoring internet freedom by stripping themselves of all authority to regulate. Only to just recently declare that they have all authority to regulate speech on the internet because conservatives don't like being censored (which wouldn't happen if they weren't fascists).

Remember, he said that BEFORE he was elected in 2016, so apparently decorum didn't and doesn't matter to Trump supporters. But just to inoculate all us liberals against being labeled a bunch of hypocrites, we know that Biden isn't a saint either since a couple of women came forward with their own complaints about his behavior before the election. But when it came down to the rubber hitting the road for 4 more years, I decided to choke down my revulsion and cast my vote for the lesser of 2 evils, Joe Biden (Jeff250 was right ). GOOD RIDDANCE DONALD J TRUMP. May the attorney's for the Southern District of New York now ruin your day once you've vacated the White House. You can no longer hide your crimes behind the presidency and your sycophants. My schadenfreude for life would be met in spades if you finally prosecuted that bastard for something.

When I heard that Pennsylvania finally went for Biden and put him over the top in the electoral college, I almost went out into the street and danced with joy. If my neighbors had done it, I would've joined them. My older neighbor across the street was absolutely giddy with happiness today that enough people had had the common sense to vote for Biden and save our democracy from total annihilation at the hands of our current toddler autocrat. In fact, a lot of other countries around the world breathed a collective sigh of relief because the U.S. finally had the sense to dump that national disgrace of a leader some Americans gave the title of "President" to 4 long years ago.

First order of Biden's business, get rid of AG Barr post haste.

I just read GW Bush’s statement about his “warm congratulations” to Biden. I thought this might go on for months but when the Bush family (HW ran the CIA) calls it that’s pretty much a polite kick in the fat Fanny to pack your bags. It’s still amazes me how much everyone missed GW in comparison to the World Wrestling Entertainment manager that’s been representing us to the rest of the world. :o

Major Republican pols with skin still in the game have to humor Trump for the next couple months to keep the cult together for the GA Senate run offs.

As for Bush, the only person who should ever say that they've missed him is the guy who threw his shoes at him.

Trump takes the crown for worst personality, but Bush was probably the worst president in modern times for outcomes. Started endless unwinnable wars that resulted in the deaths of millions in the middle east and crashed the global economy into a boulder.

The next few months? How about for the rest of his life? We all know how this will play out: The next Attorney General conveniently forgets to prosecute any of Trump's crimes, pressures the lower court system to ignore any wrongdoing by Trump so to not be seen as politically motivated (we've yet to take any real action against someone in an office higher than governor), and then Trump takes the place of Rush Limbaugh, spewing garbage out of his mouth until the day he dies. Republicans are too in love with Trump to ever let him go. He'll be like Kim Il-sung. In fact, I could easily see a Scientology-like religion springing up around Trump, like some bizarre branch of Christianity. It wouldn't surprise me if some redneck jihad took a shot at Biden or Harris in the next couple years.

Could be. His strangle hold on the true believers won't diminish much, but his platform will be much smaller. The obligation that everyone take notice of the BS he spews will greatly diminish. It'll give much more space for GOP pols to distance themselves than they have now, and they'll be able to pretend he doesn't exist without the daily reminders that he does. I have to think they don't want to be controlled by Trump's mood anymore, even if it has won them many prizes.

Now, whether or not the GOP go back to using their indoor voice, or whether or not the base will hear it anymore after being deafened the last few years, I don't know.

Either way, folks like McConnell, Rubio, Cruz, and Graham need to keep Trump happy until that GA run off or they lose the Senate. Don Jr. already launched a shot across their bow calling out their silence, and they had to snap to attention.

You guys DO realize this ain't over? Trump CAN run again in 2024 since he only served one term and I just know the orange zombie will keep coming back, given his predilections for power and glory. Judging from the persistent nuttiness and delusions of his GOP thralls, I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen 4 years down the road because I sure don't see any sort of reality EVER popping into their thick skulls. We didn't get a Blue Wave, so all the current Trump zombie compatriots are still there, stinking up the place AND in control. Our only saving grace to permanently remove Trump from the picture would be if he died or else was indicted, convicted and imprisoned because of some crime since he's no longer be shielded by his GOP enablers. It's certainly possible that a skeleton or 2 out of his closet will be his downfall, given Trump's corrupt behavior as president and a {cough} "businessman".

I mean, these idiots are NOT giving up on their illegal vote shenanigans at this very moment. They're so desperate to find any kind of significant voter fraud that Russia misinfo shopper Giuliani is out there in some back alley landscaping business interviewing a New Jersey convicted sex offender who is claiming Pennsylvania vote count irregularities. I mean, this "source" is nothing but an opportunist with no shame who's willing to shill for either party whenever it benefits him. Even Niel Cavuto broke in on this "interview" to announce that Biden had won Michigan.

Yep. 70 million people saw the last 4 years and thought another 4 would be a good idea. That isn't going away anytime soon. And Democrats are in a position where they have to actually deliver good, popular things. Unlikely even when they have numbers, because Democrats are there to make sure the things we get can't be too good or too popular. At best they're looking at a 50/50 Senate, hanging on the whim of Joe Manchin.

I'm not optimistic at all. It's better than the alternative, but still not good.

Problem is, 70 million people may want Trump and only Trump all over again, then we're back to square one. As much as I'd like to see socialized healthcare at the very least, anything Biden and especially Harris (who's more progressive) do to pull policies further to the left might be enough to sink Biden in 2024. Too many people in this country freak out over anything having to do with socialism, even though we already live with and enjoy quite a few socialistic programs in this country right now.

Does this statement worry anyone?

Plus, the GSA is refusing transition support to Biden, as has been done repeatedly during every presidential election in the past regardless of who won, a courtesy that even the Obama Administration gave Trump when he won in 2016? Will the head of the GSA still refuse when it's finally ascertained to the last vote that Biden DID win?

It's pretty cool that the "Benghazi ain't going away" folks are now being fed a steady diet of "stolen election" to soothe the fragile ego of a cult leader.

It's even cooler that that cult leader just decapitated the civilian leadership of the largest military on the planet.

Things are fine.

It may be crumbling with his idiot attorneys, but his thralls are turning it into "a war on an election", even though Biden won fair and square in a democracy they now don't like so much. Canada may not want us as southern neighbors after the end of January because it's going to go batshit crazy here when all those Trump thralls don't get their way. They'll never believe that the election was legitimate if Biden is president and I mean NEVER, after listening to a few of them on the Sunday pundit shows this morning. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump did something really desperate and declared war on Iran and then put our country under martial law just to keep his power. Even if he doesn't go to that extreme, he'll most certainly be back in 2024. Nope, we're totally screwed. We're officially the neighbor from Hell Ferno, and you can't move away ether.

This is the most dangerous man in the world right now. A living breathing 2-year old temper tantrum throwing narcissistic egomaniac with delusions of being Dictator for life, who has his tiny hands on the most powerful military in the world and perhaps the power and enough deluded thralls to back him up.

This winter is going to be really ★■◆●ing bad. The way covid cases are spiking, we're likely to be seeing 3000 deaths a day a month from now, and the numbers are still going up. Then add in Thanksgiving and Christmas super-spreaders, winter limiting the relative safety of outdoors, and the death rate climbing as hospital capacity maxes out, and Federal leadership STILL fighting mitigation efforts, this is going to be horrible. It was always going to be hard, but it didn't have to be this way.

I have a really hard time seeing how this reality won't pierce the cult of personality bubble, at least for those that survive. I've certainly been surprised at how effective straight up lying and denying reality has been, but this is going to be hard on every single person in this country. We very well could be looking at 100,000+ deaths in the month leading up to Biden taking office. I don't think you can tweet that away. And if you can, ★■◆● the United States. I refuse to be united with a death cult.

Yeah, our governor ordered a 2 week semi-lock down starting Wednesday. Today, Trump's Covid TV face man was beaming and blathering on and on about Moderna's 94% effective vaccine, how Trump's Operation Warpspeed was a Godsend and we should all be thankful, while totally ignoring the questions about why the GSA is NOT helping the Biden Covid transition team at all. What an asswipe. A vaccine will not be available to the general public until after December and the logistics of vaccinating over 331,648,064+ Americans is going to be monumental, not including the idiot anti-vaaxers. Besides, Biden needs all the help he can get for the sake of our nation. So while Trump sits, mopes and stews as to why he didn't win because he thinks everyone loves him, or goes out to get his daily boner fix with a drive-by in front of his idiot supporters this weekend, people are getting sick and dying by the thousands.

I may even have this thing. But it's weird. I think I have an intestinal infection of Covid. No respiratory issues, just bowel issues and a slight headache, so perhaps I wasn't as careful with my hand hygiene as I should have been. There were plenty of Covid cases in China where people only presented with intestinal issues and never tested positive in their nasal cavities. I'm trying to get my doc to perform an antibody test on me, because he is under the impression that Covid will show up there too, which I hope it never does. But it hasn't so far after a week, while something is still plaguing me down there. If I do have it, I can't use a public bathroom. The toilet mist will spread Covid around the room to someone else.

I was reading an article the other day about how when fox news declared the election for Biden a couple alternative conservative channels that claim Trump won saw a large increase in viewership. Literally conservatives are fleeing to news sources that tell them what they want to hear instead of telling them what is objectively happening.

She's actually getting over it after 3 weeks of misery. She also said she never wants to get it again and that she'd rather have Norovirus (that's no picnic either, but it's a shorter misery). She still has a lingering cough, but she hasn't been tested yet to see if she's negative. She even thinks her hair fell out faster during the episode too. Her husband is still fighting through some lingering fatigue and an occasional fever and headaches, but he's slowly recovering as well. All told, she and her husband didn't get hit hard, fortunately. I'm going to see if I can get tested as well. I have only one of the symptoms she had, digestive problems, primarily loose stools with no pain. She's had that for three weeks, which is tapering off and so far I've had it for one, plus some headaches. If I do have it, it's not in my lungs so far and I hope it stays that way.

Cognitive dissonance is worse than Covid and there will never be a vaccine. The people who suffer from it need to be brought down hard into the world of reality and learn live with it like normal Americans. We got 4 years of Trump, they now get 4 years of Biden. Fair is fair, tough ★■◆●. Take your medicine and quit bitching. Like the Rolling Stones song that Trump illegally played at his first boner rallies, "You can't always get what you want", now the shoe's on the other foot. That's what scares me about all these people. They actually refuse to see that our current president is a threat to the stability of this nation and the sanctity of it's free elections. They're willing to destroy something that's centuries old just because it didn't give them what they wanted, their dictator for life. They don't like mail in voting? Tough. We've had it for 2 decades in Oregon and it's worked just fine. It was certainly preferable to everyone going to a polling place and getting exposed to Covid.

Welp, now we know where delusional Republicans are flocking to for news, communications and other online content that fit's their narrative and won't be policed for their version of "free speech", in other words, the flagging or deletion of their outright BS that Facebook and Twitter now employ. It's called Parler.

But oh what a HUGE gotcha for willfully blathering that free speech if Parler gets sued because of some post by a user. "Free speech" with a nasty cost. And just to be sure, Parler membership demands verification with a driver's license pic front and back and a selfie to become a "citizen", just so they know WHO to sue when the time comes. Happy trails all you Trump thralls.
Despite its free-speech mission, Parler’s terms of service include an unusual section making users liable for damages if Parler is sued because of a user’s post. In short, the company can bill users if those users get the company into legal trouble. “You agree to defend and indemnify Parler, as well as any of its officers, directors, employees, and agents, from and against any and all claims, actions, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to all attorneys fees) arising from or relating to your access to and use of the Services,” the agreement states.

Also should be mentioned that Parlor is funded by the Mercers, the family behind Breitbart, Cambridge Analytica, Steve Bannon, etc. Makes me think they aren't so much taking info so they know where to direct lawsuits, but for more accurate ideological weaponization of data.

It's called Parler.
Don't forget about Cheeto's favorite "news" network ONN. ;)

That would be a good joke if it weren't so close to reality.

Glad to hear they are pulling through.

Unfortunately one of my cousins (first cousin once removed == aunts granddaughter) passed away from covid-19 complications yesterday. She was in her early 40s but had some underlying lung issues...

I would like to remind everyone: please, say home if you can, wear a mask and keep your distance if you cant.

I'm sorry to hear that. My condolences. This virus is damn scary and everyone needs to take heed. Wear a mask and don't gather in large groups, period. I wouldn't go to a theater or dine in a restaurant if you paid me. I was in the Wilco Farm store the other day for some hardware to complete my house project. They have signs posted on the entrance doors saying that masks are required and that they may refuse to serve you if you don't have one on. So what happens? As I'm leaving in saunters a couple in their thirties, maskless. I didn't stick around to catch something from those 2 maskwipes or see what the employees did about it. I'm sure the employees weren't happy about it however since they're the ones who get exposed even though they're wearing masks just to protect shoppers.

Today, we had the most dangerous 1 hour and 45 minute press conference by a Trump thrall ever, Rudy dripping hair dye Giuliani. Trump has now sent his sycophant "lawyers", and I use that term loosely, to attempt invalidate the election results in Michigan and Pennsylvania by directly intimidating both Republican election canvassers or state legislators in the effort to get the election results tossed out. Then they'd seat a couple of Trump loving Republican electors instead just to give Trump his electoral win. What in the hell is wrong with Republicans? Has Covid fried your damn brains? Take note. You LOST you pricks, fair and square. If you can't get the votes, you don't deserve to take office by throwing out the will of the American voter.

No kidding. Had to break it to my folks (over the phone) that I won't be coming home for Thanksgiving this year, and it was all I could do to not break down when I heard my Mom choke up. ★■◆● this year, and these morons refusing to wear a mask can just go die in a fire for all I care.

Wow, so sad. 2020 royally sucks and I can't wait for it to go away. My sister's one daughter and her husband now have Covid. He's also on the president's medical team too, so they have to quarantine. But they didn't get it from the WH. The daughter works at a bar in DC and she caught it there, because of course, no one wears a mask when drinking or eating. Her hubby then caught it from her. I've tested negative again, but I'm still trying to decide whether to go up to my elderly father's house for a day or two, or just go up and give him some more books to read and leave. I don't know who my brothers or their families have been in contact with and I've been in contact with a bunch of contractors lately. Plus, we are not supposed to travel, even within the state.

On the Orange Dynasty, some say he will run in 2024, some say not. If he runs again Ferno, we're in for another crappy election year and possibly another 4 years of bull★■◆●. Hopefully the shame of losing will deter him forever. I'm seriously hoping that the Southern District of New York convicts him of something that will make him ineligible to run again. God knows there's a plethora of crimes they can nail this bastard with. Plus, all those cheeseburgers have gone straight to his middle, so he's a heart attack waiting to happen.

But while he's still there, he's monkey wrenching things for Biden and has given a Christmas gift to Putin. He's pulled out of the Open Skies Treaty and ordered all the planes that were used for that purpose to be "liquidated", ie. destroyed, not mothballed. Yes, those planes are old, but they're still functional and the U.S. government isn't awash in funds right now. So if Biden wants to go back into the treaty, he will have to find the funds to build new planes first. So much for putting America first you orange jackass.

Yeah, he's literally gone into screaming toddler mode, because he didn't get his way. The thing about liquidating assets though, is that it takes time to do so. I don't think there is enough time to destroy all those planes, even if COVID wasn't a thing right now. At least I hope not.
